I was hospitalised during my pregnancy and had my baby in Makarios Hospital. Most of the OBGYNs are highly knowledgable and great doctors. The midwives are a special kind of people, so understanding they make you feel like you have known them forever. When my son was born they made sure I was taught all the neccessary things before sending me home.
When a baby arrives the routine checks include but are not limited to opthalmology, hearing, blood and cardio checks; checks I hear are not provided in the private sector. Having a child with a rare condition, the genetics pediatrician was more than worried of my reaction and more than pleased to provide with answers and neccessary documentation for further checks.
When we had to stay in the children's section because of my son's bronchiolitis, the stuff was very polite and attentive.
My only complains were of two nurses; the first one was a nurse that addressed my family as the family with the baby that had a problem, before the doctor was able to brief them and as she didn't provide any info, they were left stressed until the genetics pediatrician was able to meet them. The second one was a nurse at the operation wad, when we had an overnight stay during my son's first operation (by a private doctor) that was not very understanding of the stress a mother goes through when having her child on the operating table. Other than those two (and it is down to the person and not the hospital) I have nothing but the outmost respect for the stuff.
There is a physiotherapy clinic and a vaccination clinic In the premises of the hospital. We have used and still use both. The physiotherapists are very nice and kind to the children and engaging with the parents. The vaccination clinic provides for free most of the vaccines neccessary; it also provides routing milestone checks for infans and toddles. The health visitors of the clinic are supernice ladies, willing to provide advice, and answers wihen asked.
Given the fact that all 'difficult' cases are sent to Makarios hospital from the private sector, I would reccomend keeping them as an option anyway.

Giving birth of your child is a great thing, and this is the right place to do it.
