I am extremely dissatisfied with the customer service at Polytronica Curaçao. My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare. Here’s a detailed account of what happened:
I called on Monday regarding a noise coming from a washing machine that I bought just two months ago. They sent a technician the same day who claimed a bra wire was stuck inside and suggested that it might not be covered under the warranty. He even had the audacity to offer to fix it privately for 300 guilders, implying that Polytronica would charge more. This was the first red flag, as the technician was clearly trying to steal Polytronica's client by offering his own services.
We were told to wait for a call from a representative to confirm if the warranty would cover the repair. However, the next day, a transport team arrived to pick up the washing machine without us receiving any confirmation about the warranty. When we asked the transport team if the repair was covered under the warranty, they assured us THREE TIMES that it was.
On Wednesday around 1 PM, a representative called and informed us that the warranty did not cover the repair and it would cost 250 guilders. She asked us if we wanted to proceed. I explicitly told her not to proceed with the repair because I couldn’t afford it. Despite my clear instructions, she called back at 3:30 PM saying they had already opened the washing machine by mistake and that I would have to pay for it.
Every time I spoke with the representative, she would say she needed to consult her manager, providing no concrete answers. After insisting that I wouldn't pay for something I didn’t authorize, she promised to discuss it with her manager and call back. Wednesday passed, Thursday passed, and Friday passed without any call. Finally, we visited the store in person on Friday before closing.
At the store, the same representative and her colleagues blamed us for the confusion, claiming that the transport and warranty checks were part of their service. If that’s the case, why call me on Wednesday to ask for authorization and then disregard my instructions? Why did they send a transport to “check” the washing machine if the technician had already informed us of the problem when he went to check it at our house? It makes absolutely no sense.
Their overall handling of the situation was incompetent and unprofessional. The technician tried to offer private services, the company failed to communicate properly, and they ultimately performed unauthorized work on my washing machine. This whole ordeal left us without a washing machine for over a week.
I would strongly advise against using Polytronica Curaçao for any appliance purchase or service. Their customer service is abysmal, and they seem more interested in shifting blame than providing solutions. I have been buying for Polytronica for 2 decades but I will not be buying from then anymore. Save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere.
