Taken.
De taken van de Douane Curaçao hebben vooral een toezichthoudend karakter: De Douane houdt voornamelijk toezicht op de invoer, uitvoer en doorvoer van goederen en de binnenlandse vervaardiging, opslag en uitslag van accijnsgoederen. De in-, uit- en doorvoer van goederen omvat fiscale en niet-fiscale taken.

Fiscale douane-taken.
De Douane is verantwoordelijk voor de heffing, controle, inning en opsporing van de verschillende rechten bij invoer zoals:
• Invoerrechten
• Accijnzen
• Omzetbelasting

Niet-fiscale douane-taken.
De Douane houdt ook toezicht op de naleving van wetgeving. Het betreft hier wetgeving op economisch-, gezondheids-, milieu- en veiligheidsterrein alsook economische ordening en financiële integriteit.

Daarnaast spoort de Douane de in-, uit- en doorvoer van verboden goederen op en controleert zij goederen die aan bijzondere voorschriften moeten voldoen, zoals verdovende middelen, geneesmiddelen en beschermde dier- en plantensoorten.

Binnenlandse vervaardiging, opslag en uitslag van accijnsgoederen.
Naast de heffing van accijnzen bij het invoeren van goederen zijn ook specifieke bepalingen van toepassing bij de binnenlandse vervaardiging en het voorhanden hebben van accijnsgoederen. De Douane zorgt voor de juiste heffing van deze accijnzen.
