Poor all-inclusive resort. I had to run the water for 3 minutes, until the water cleared up. dirt was clouding the shower floor. The beds were hard and lumpy and we had to ask 3 times to move rooms. The music in the 24 hour bar was way too loud. they stopped translating on Friday night when the locals started showing up. Their were no international brands of alcohol. The drinks in your room frig were charged to your room. you had to pay for them. Brisas at this location is no good.

I recently went to cova during the week of may 8th-15, and during my stay there it was decently pleasant. There were a few minor issues I experienced like having no hot water, no bottled water ( which I had to buy myself). For the week. But, there is one incident which I did not take to lightly and because of this I will not be returning to this resort. ( which is sad because I thoroughly enjoyed it here). Due to my departure the night before I was packing and came to realize a dress that belonged to my daughter was missing. I thoroughly searched through two hotel rooms ( as I was there with my friend) and ripped apart 5 luggage bags all to discover there dress was no where to be found. I filed a complaint that night. The next morning ( my departure date) I spoke with public relations regarding the incident of my missing article of clothing and at first the situation was being handled in a professional manner. A few hours before our bus was set to pick us up, I was speaking with the public relations and head of security about the issue at hand again. Never in my life have I ever been made to feel like I was the criminal, and that i was being called a liar and making this whole situation up. I was questioned repeatly ( are you sure you brought this item, where did you see it act..) I even got upset to the point i was crying, all to be told to stop crying, why are you crying?, and have eyes rolled at me. I was also told that i would not be allowed to return to Canada and would have to remain in cuba to speak to the authorities. This was be far the breaking point and my emotions flooded into tears, I was subjected to unfair treatment, being accused of making up what seems to be an impossible situation that things can go missing ( which there's a first for everything of course). Thankfully I was allowed to leave and return to Canada ( I've never been more happier at that point). It's unfortunate this happened because not only myself, but my daughter ( first trip) now does not want to return to brias because she doesn't think it's fair her clothing was taken without permission.

Beach was amazing! Phone and TV didn't work. Staff was great, helpful and friendly. Food at the beach bar was really good as well as the buffet. Hotel rooms were very dated and need a lot of work. However, we didn't go to stay in the room so wasnt an issue for us. The drive to the resort was very long and took time away from our time at the resort, 2.5 hrs each way. Check in took a long time. Mosquitoes were extremely bad one night as there was no wind. They didn't bother us when it was windy though. Overall, we went for the beach and to relax so we were happy with our week there.

Loved this Cuban resort!!! Was my second time down south, first time in Cuba, and I loved this place!!! The staff were so welcoming, it felt like we were their family members! The rooms were kept clean and they were spacious enough. Ours overlooked the ocean. Our patio had a great view of the water and of the sand, as well as the palm trees before it. The resort offered multiple activities which you can choose to partake to. The sand was magnificent and the water was grandiose! I would just have to say to watch out for the coral rocks, they cut toes! The view everyday was marvelous. The food selection was not extravagant, but there was enough for everyone from our big group to choose from. Be sure to use bottled water all the time, even to brush your teeth, especially if you are sensitive in your diet! All and all, this resort is a very fair price for an all inclusive in February. If you're looking to go down south on a smaller budget, this resort is a great option!!!

This was my second time here and was no better than the first time.
IF all you want to do is sit and read a book or do absolutely nothing then this is a good place for you.

It rained most of the time, nothing to do with the hotel. There were a million mosquitos and sand fleas but the hotel smoke bombed the place. Didn't do much but they tried, one day

If you are looking for 30+ weather and warm water, then don't go in January

The animación on the weekend did nothing The staff that came in during the week we're a little better. Every night there was a band but only one of them were good. The rest were bad. So, the shows were not entertaining

No scooters on site and only 4 bicycles that were always out. My plan was to rent a scooter, as there is nothing around and we had planned to go into town

Food, was pretty bad but still managed to find something.
The Cuban soup at the coconut hut was the best.
    Our maid was awesome
There was no water for about 26 hours and it was disgusting

Because I "look" Cuban, service for me was absolutely horrible and non existent until they realized I was Canadian.

This was the last time I go to this hotel. Never again

Built near a swamp the resort was infested with Mosquitoes and Sand Lice. Must have been bitten one thousand times in a two week period. Staff did spray pesticide to control but had little effect. Of ten people, including myself, we will never return there. Nice and friendly staff. Snorkeling not so good, too shallow, only went once. Good food. Vacation period 29 Dec 2017 to 13 Jan 2018.

This place has amazing staff, except for the young man in the money exchange room, rude with no customer service experience or expectation. The food was decent for Cuba, the beach was amazing on the left side of resort. Be aware of the beach near disco as it's full of sewage from river run off. The rooms were in decent shape kind of a Mexico feel with the room layouts which is a good thing. Entertainment was subpar but this may have been due to slow season. Now the biggest down side This place is 2.5 hours from the airport and most excursions. There is no town near by. It's a 50 CUC roundtrip to the nearest bank machine. If staying at a resort is your thing then I recommend this place. If it isn't than I suggest staying somewhere in Holguin.

I'll reflect on my experiences, providing you with my honest assessment of this Resort from someone that has traveled extensive not only to Cuba, but world-wide. This review will focus on this resort only.

Some people have given this resort a high rating, reasons unknown. We're doing injustice to those who may wish to look at other options rather than just seeing ratings online. This is NOT better than a 3 star Resort at best, lets be honest about our experiences.

There's a reason I've rated Couvarrubias as a 21/2 stars and 3 stars at best. Here are the challenges:
    1. Airport to Covarrubias takes approximately 2 hours on a rough road. Good luck when arriving late as it will get to the Resort in the early hours of the morning. Then, your next day is not as you would like it to be. My choice would have been to arrive at the Resort at a decent hour and not 2+ hours on the Bus.
I've been to the Resort 3 times only because of the insistence of my friends who have made friends at the Resort and would just like to be somewhere that they're familiar with.

Reception Staff: There are a few that are so busy with the Cell phones and do not attend to any of one's questions or simply ignore you.
Th Bar tender is generally busy watching soccer instead of serving customers.
Not sufficient fruits and Food is generally so so for most people. Only 1 speciality Restaurant lacking variety.
Most people that go there are regulars who do not wish to explore other options.

    Good Things:
People in Cuba are generally friendly, just like at Couva at most times.
The Beach is quite nice just like most of the beaches in Cuba.
My recommendations would be for you to explore other possibilities at a better price and conveniences.

The only reason that I'm giving this a 3 star is because of the rooms we had to switch rooms a few times before finally obtaining a good clean room. Even thought our tv didn't work and our bathroom was a broken (bath tub) the beach was FANTASTIC A+ for that the food was great but if your going there make sure to bring insect repellent cause my son got bit by some kind of bug and his arm was a little swollen up. The services where great and there's a lot of activities. Overall I would recommend this to people because common we don't pay a few thousand dollars for the rooms or the hotel we pay that much for the beach the sunlight and relaxation !! Anyways I hope this comment helped you crazy travellers out there and enjoy yourselves

I almost don't want to write a good review because I don't want people to find out about this gem. I asked my kids whether they would rather go back there or Disney, they said back there. The staff is great, the beach is very nice, lot's of activities. I recommend.

It was a beautiful trip of making new friends and loving life in the slow lane. Food was great, beach was great, weather was hot and the people of Cuba were amazing! Loved my trip here and I can't wait to get back.

My daughter and I had a wonderful week during our stay here. The hospitality is outstanding. The whole time the staff were outstanding and courteous. Beautiful white stand beach. Rooms are big and comfortable. The food was good.
The only issue was shortage of water in the rooms. Adding few more water sports and horse back riding. Will go there again
