If I could give 0 stars I would. The guy at the front, didn’t even bother to get his name, tried to scam my boyfriend and I out of tons of money. I explained to him first thing we had coverage and insurance via Travelocity, when I showed him on my phone he didn’t even bother to look he just went on and on about some BS $500 we had to pay. I had Travelocity get in contact with them and they even confirmed we had insurance and only needed to pay a deposit which is normally standard when renting cars. However, $1500 in deposit fees is not standard and no one in their right mind should be paying that for a car. The couple other rental places I spoke to were about half that cost. If you want customers to continue to use your services, than be accomodating to the customer. I hope no one ever has this kind of negative experience it put a huge damper on my time in Costa Rica.

Here's the thing about renting a car in Costa Rica.it's going to cost about 60% more at "checkout" than whatever you see online. That has nothing to do with this rental company, it is not a scam it is the additional required insurance that all companies have to charge. That being said, this company helped me out of a jam. Hertz overbooked by 45 cars and this company gave me one of their last remaining vehicles. My trip would have been a disaster without a 4x4 rental car. I will say that the tread on the tires was a lot less than one would hope but I did end up going a lot of places that the average tourist probably doesn't go. That said, if you think you need a four wheel drive pleeeeease get an actual 4x4 and not an AWD, you will thank yourself after your trip.

Claimed Expedia third party insurance was no good and could save us money if we went with their damage coverage after an hour of hassle manager was very dishonest and failed to explain charges ending up charging us $300 more than original price. Better coverage but way more money, a real lack of integrity and honesty. Use a known rental agency.
