Great experience! We learned so much about the animals, their current situations, their rehabilitation and any questions we had were answered. I highly recommend visiting this ranch. Javier was a great guide.

I highly recommend visiting this Rescue facility. All money spent here will go towards keeping these amazing animals alive, and most of the people who work here are volunteers. More people visiting allows more animals to be rescued. All non-five-star-reviews of this place are due to the price, but I could not think of anything more worthy of your money. Maybe rent. Or food. Or hospital bills. But this is pretty high up there. The volunteers are very nice and knowledgeable, and care for the animals with the utmost respect and love. To conclude, I would rate this place 57/59 because the coffee was subpar.

This is a wonderful place. After booking online (there is one tour a day), you get a short introduction to the shelter and why they rescue animals. After that, you get a 90-minute tour of the various animals (we were fortunate to have Daniel, a biologist). You get to see toucans, spider monkeys, a porcupine, owls, sloths, etc.
The team does an amazing job of preparing most of these animals to being released in the wild.

At The Toucan Rescue Ranch the aim is to rehabilitate and release animals that are brought in, whenever possible. Unfortunately, some are permanent residents there because they'd be unable to fend for themselves in the wild due to their injuries or domestication.

The rescue facility works closely with the Ministry of the Environment which regulates their activities. I highly recommend it if you consider yourself to be an animal lover.

Many of the animals there have sad stories, but they're in the hands of compassionate and caring people, including many volunteers and an on-hand veterinarian.

Research The Toucan Rescue Ranch for yourselves and read about the wonderful work they're doing, both at the ranch and release sites. They've released over 20 sloths; have a breeding programme for toucans and owls have also been released into the wild after injured owls started breeding while at the ranch.

As a non-profit organization, they rely on visitors and on donations for their funding which goes to unkeep of envlosures, feeding and general care of the animals.

This is a beautiful little sanctuary. Unfortunately we did not have a long time to visit, but was really cool to see lots of animals that I have not seen elsewhere. Additionally, all of the animals are very up close.

Loved the tour and what the Toucan Rescue Ranch is doing to help these animals regain their strength while educating everyone about the importance of protecting the earth and her animals! Great tour guides, super friendly staff and you c am hey surprisingly close to the animals. Those people looking to be up close to sloths, this is the place for you. You're not allowed to hold them because of a lot of issues with attachment and bacteria, but you get so close that it doesn't matter.

Great place to visit if you love animals and love hanging out with people who are passionate about animals. My family and I chose to come to the Toucan Rescue Ranch over other sanctuaries because we love knowing they help release their animals if possible. Our tour guide Pedro (Im sorry if Im getting his name wrong or if its misspelled) is a fantastic tour guide. He was the best tour guide my family has ever had - super funny, very knowledgeable and obviously loves animals! I would love to come back to this rescue facility every day if I could.

My family and I did the breakfast tour with the baby sloths, it was so worth it. You get to see the sloths eat really close up, and you get great pictures.

I will say that the owner and all of the workers here really care about respecting the animals. This is not a place where you can touch or pet animals. You won't be able to hold sloths or hold birds. But! If you want to see animals super close up (get amazing pictures), and know youre supporting an amazing group of people doing amazing things, then definitely 100% come by here.

Visité el santuario el día 3 de enero de 2016. Habíamos coordinado la visita con anterioridad. Cuando llegamos nos encontramos con que el tour se hacía en inglés. LA guía no fue muy amable al solicitarsele la posibilidad de traducir. Parece que a pesar de haberlo solicitado en español, no lo tuvieron presente. Eramos 5 pasajeros. Luego que hice el planteo procuraron subsanar la situación con otra persona que hablaba español. El señor que nos acompañó fue sumamente amable.
Al pagar nos hicieron un descuento por los inconvenientes.
Por otra parte debo decir que el centro es muy interesante. Vale la pena la visita. Cuidan muchos sus animales, si bien nos podemos acercar mucho, no es posible tocarlos (como corresponde).
