We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of February and into March 2018. The house is perched high of a steep hillside, behind 2 security gates. Our Suzuki Vitara 4x4 made it up the road up to the house just fine, as long as it was in first gear.
3 of the bedrooms have incredible views of the ocean and the 4th looks down the valley to the east. The beds and couches are super comfortable. We had no trouble sleeping. I even passed out in the hammock on the patio one night. You can easily hear the waves crashing down below on the beach, which is just a couple minute drive down the hill. You can also hear the bars down the hill at night when a band is there, but they didnt go too late at night. Father Rooster's even had a really nice firework display on our last night there (a Saturday).
What sells you on this place is the patio and it will not let you down. I could have stay out there my entire trip. The patio and infinity pool will just blow you away. When Max walked us through the house to the back patio my jaw hit the floor, even with seeing tons of pictures before we went. In the the mornings, the patio is loaded with birds stopping by for drinks constantly. If you stay out late on the patio you may catch some more nocturnal creatures passing by the pool too.
It is a short drive to most food places in Coco, but just be prepared for tons of foot and bicycle traffic on the road (literally on the road). You adjust to it after a day, but definitely a bit different than the US. Ticoffia for breaskfast. For lunch and diner - Le COQ, Chorotacos, & Jardin are my recommendations for food. We even grabbed pizza from La Caveja one night and ate with the lizards on the patio. They are all within a 10 minute drive of the house. You can always walk down to Father Rooster's too, but get a reservation there beforehand.
This place was perfect for my photography addiction. Always something to shot. The patio made a great spot to launch my drone from too.
Max was super easy to work with and easy to get a hold of, if needed. The only problem we had the entire trip was the WiFi was down for 30 minutes, which wasnt even an issue. We started planning our trip back to the Lighthouse the second we landed in the states again. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

Aqui el las playa del coco disfrutando en familia muy bueno.
Beautiful view, beautiful house. The house is worn from the salt air and there are a lot of bugs because you are in the jungle. Cleaning is a concern, you may have to do some yourself. Other 4 bedroom units in Ocotal were more expensive, and may have the same issues. So, you get your money's worth with this one.
We are half way through our Christmas vacation at the Lighthouse Ocotal and loving every minute
Wonderful home. Spent 5 nights for my mother and father in-laws 45 year anniversary. Spectacular! The home is fully-equipped. Air conditioners are maintenaned very well. WiFi worked wonderfully. TV is huge! The view has got to be the best view in Playa Ocotal. Super private, secure and very comfortable.
Many extras and personal touches that added even more value to the rental. Would absolutely rent again. Home owners are very very hospitable and gave us many wonderful tips for our stay.
Surpassed our expectaciones.
My friends and I stayed at this amazing location for a week in February. From the space, to the infinity pool and the privacy, this place is unbelievable!! The host, Max, was very accommodating. There were 9 of us on the trip, one of which arrived earlier and separately from the rest of us. Max was kind enough to meet our early bird to go over the turning over of the house keys, ac, kitchen, rooms, safe and alarm use. We had a bit of an issue with the alarm and Max was always available each and every time the alarm went off (it's apparently harder to set an alarm for a home that isn't your own who knew). The house is fully stocked think from kitchen appliances to bathroom essentials and most importantly WiFi. This place was a true treasure on top of a hill. Close to everything but far enough away to enjoy the silent and beautiful sunsets of Costa Rica!!
מקום מיוחד רומנטי ומנוהל על ידי צוות משפחה נפלאה הדואגת לנוחות האורחים 24/7
