Its a mirracle :-) the humans can fly and this really small strip which is a super small airport with just a fence which opens shortly before the plane lands and closes shortly after it takes off makes your ride to tambor from san jose a very short one. So not fancy but it serves its purpose and enables low cost traveling by air with very small planes which can be bumpy but also more funn :-)

Convenient way to get back to San Jose Airport after visiting the Nicoyan Peninsula. Ride into the peninsula to see the sights and experience the ferry, but flying back in such a small plane is another experience not to miss. Don't forget tax money$2.25 per person. Some concession was also available for purchase.

Not what you might be imagining when you hear the word "airport". Really just a runway with a couple of structures.

    - Make sure to bring cash. $2.25 per person tax when you land here and when departing.
    - There ARE bathrooms here (an older review says there aren't any)
    - There's shaded seating

Woo, talk about the middle of nowhere. This little airstrip gets 10-seat puddle-jumpers from San Jose. It's basically just a single landing strip in the middle of the jungle overlooking the coast. There's no bathroom or basic amenities. There's a bench, a couple guys with food carts and tax collectors. FYI, you need to shell out a few bucks to the tax collectors when you land and when you take off. There's no security at the strip though, so don't worry about any type of customs officers. Flight time is about 40 minutes to San Jose.
