WILL NOT RETURN
Ceiling fan available. cc accepted. Friendly staff. Overcooked food (steak turned rubbery; fish turned dry and tasteless). Food took close to 30 mins. to arrive even though we were the first customer to arrive in the afternoon.response / report this review -

If angels in heaven cook like this, many might choose to go to hell.
Take a look at my fully cooked piece of beef tenderloin -- I specified "medium" doneness. It was so tough I literally fed it to the dogs, the dogs in the alley staircase next door.
The Mahi Mahi fish was overcooked too.

Loved the local atmosphere after 8 days of trying to break away from all the other tourist. A local tour driver pointed it out as one of his favorite homemade like places. One of us had the caught that day fish with rice and I has the chicken dish. We ate it so fast we hardly remember what it looked like. Ha. We sat at a table by the road because we could feel a little breeze. The cost of both plates, calamari appetizer and two fruit con leche drinks, plus the generous tip we added because we were so happy, was less then one plate at a hotel or resort restaurant.

Delicious and CHEAP food--I ordered chicken burritos for 2500 colones and it was PLENTY for a dinner meal. Everything was very fresh, and the menu was well-rounded. Dont be fooled by the humble appearance and small space--this is where the locals eat. Excellent.

Clean kitchen. Good prices. Variety of dishes to satisfy a family of picky eaters. We had wholen red snapper, cheeseburger, azteca chicken, chicken alfredo. We would go back to try some other items. Service is not included so we left a 10% tip.

Also goes be El Angel. Great all around and affordable with amazing service. Best simple Costa Rican food. Amazing fresh fruit drinks! Will go next door to buy fresh fruit if they run out of the fruit you want. A must if you want a real flavorful, friendly authentic meal.
