It's a beautiful place. The ruins are located in a valley with great views of the mountains and trees of different colors. It's really easy to get there by car or even by bus. Great spot for a picnic or to spend time with family or friends.

A very nice well maintained small historical Park. Not big, but great for a small picnic with it's great Green space. The church structure is nicely maintained.

Nice quiet and safr place if you like the outdoors. Ruins of a church of XVI century. Many trees and some wood tables. Ideal for a picnic. Bathrooms not well mantained.

It's a public green area to go and explore, it was a church and it's now a landmark since it fell down due to an earthquake. Good por a picnic, photos.
When I went a couple months ago they didn't charge entrance and there are public restrooms.

I didn't know about these until I met my beautiful girlfriend. Nobody ever talks about them outside this area.

The ruins date from the late 17th century, though the church site goes back to the 1540s. A very nice, tranquil park that enjoys a quiet, spiritual intensity.

This is a nice stop in a generally rural area of Costa Rica. The ruins help tell a story of the earliest Spanish settlements in Costa Rica. The best part about the Ruinas de Ujarras is that there is no charge.

Beautiful old church ruins surrounded by lovely gardens. There were parrots in the trees and it looked like some of them had nests in holes in the church wall.

Free admission and is less than 30 minutes away from Cartago. I recommend stopping at the Mirador Ujarres site (free admission) for a splendid view of the valley before descending down to the ruin. It's great for those history buff and anyone who are interested in seeing a 16th century ruin.
