  Probably the best food experience we've had in our 5 weeks in CR to date! We stopped on a Sunday evening here on our way back to Portrero after a visit to the Arenal volcano for the weekend. All I can say is that it's places like this that make my day! There were 5 of us filing into this restaurant busy with locals, no one spoke English and we had no idea what was going on. You walk to the back and are presented with a cafeteria style set up where you pick and choose what you want. Upon Mimi's encouragement, we ended up with heaping platefuls of food all i could think was 'this is going to be expensive'. We decided to bypass drinks as a result. We fumbled our way through, and found a seat. The food was excellent homemade fare. Mimi then brought us little cups of red colored slushy with what seemed like condensed milk drizzled on it and a malt powder in the bottom - YUMMY! We gave Mimi a big hug as she came over to ask if we enjoyed the food Lots of hand signals let her know how impressed we were. To top off this great food experience, the bill for 5 of us came to $28.00 a total shock to say the least, this was one of the most inexpensive meals we've had in Costa Rica! Upon leaving I did a quick Google search to see if I could find this restaurant, and lo and behold not only found it, but learned it was all you can eat!!! Darn, we should have had those drinks afterall!!! Love love loved this place and you should not miss it if travelling through Canas.
