We did the floating tour with Pacheco tours. It was fun, but not worth the $65 p.p. Carlos was our guide, who seemed more intent on finishing the tour than ensuring we enjoyed ourselves.
In our case, we drove 45 mins to a small trail at the side of the road, and walked another 30 mins through poorly marked trails to the waterfall. It felt a little dangerous considering we were equipped with literally just a water bottle and shoes we were happy to get wet. Carlos was obviously knowledgable about the area and wildlife, but we only stopped to see something interesting 2 or 3 times on the power-hike through the forest. We spent a short time at the waterfall - in other reviews we had seen that the guide shows you how to jump in from the rocks - not in our case.
It was then a short walk to the river where we wore our life jackets upside down like trousers, and began floating. Again, we had seen that in other tours you navigate through rapids etc. - again, not in our case, we walked around all of them. We had a short stop for lunch - soggy empenadas from where the tour guide's "dry" bag had leaked. Glad I hadn't stored any electronics in there.
After about an hour of just floating, which was fun but short lived, we arrived at a lovely beach. Unfortunately we barely had time to see it as we were back hiking for 30 mins back through the same fairly dense forest without proper shoes and no water. We were offered some exotic fruits during our walk which was quite nice. We were then picked up by car and taken back to town again.
Reviews for other floating tours in the area seem to suggest they have a lot more fun and offer more value for money - suggest you check them out before going here.response / report this review -

2018 Spring break vacation
Excelente place with beautiful views. We arrived late and missed our boat. How ever Eric arranged a private charter for us. Over all Eric and Carlos made our stay unforgettable. I want to rate Pacheco tours an A++++.

Drake Bay is an interesting spot as far as accommodations because there is not a whole lot of middle ground. There are some very high end Eco-Lodges that run several hundred dollars or more a night, and then much more bargain options like Pacheco Tours and Cabins. All in all the accommodations at Pacheco are clean, well serviced, and have great views. They have an arrangement with a hotel down the main street where there is a good breakfast included in your stay every morning, and the owners live onsite which makes for overall good service.
To be clear on the room accommodations, they are very clean but also very simple. In our cabin the main bed was on the floor, the shower had one of the instant shower head water heaters, and there is no television. Personally I did not have any issue with these as we were in Drake Bay to be outside, however my fiance is a little more discerning when it comes to accommodations. The only thing I personally did not like about the room was the fact that there was no comforter, just a single sheet which made getting to a comfortable temperature at night a little more difficult. All that being said the value for what you get at Pacheco is very high so it is a spot I would recommend for those looking for a quality but basic accommodations with a great view.
The only knock I am giving on this review is due to the snorkeling tour we took with Pacheco and how they handled it. We booked the tour the day before we were set to leave and confirmed with the owner that we would be taking the afternoon taxi back to Sierpe. All was good with the tour at the start, however when we landed at the Isla Cano, they let part of the group go hiking on their own and one of that group ended up getting lost. Long story short we ended up sitting at the ranger station for over an hour past when we were supposed to be there, had to get on another boat to get back, did not get the lunch we expected, and made the whole day much more stressful. I think it was somewhat bad luck, but think the experience could have been handled a bit better.response / report this review -

Went snorkeling with Pacheco Tours. Overall was a great experience. The gear and food was good, the water and animals were great. Reliable and trustworthy.

Good room price, amazing view and kind people.
If you want to go to the Corcovado National Park, you have to book it here and go with Pacheco senior! The best guide of the bay, used to live there since 30 years and is a reference for the biologists who come here to study the jungle. And he is a very nice guy!
Also a very fun and peculiar activity is the Floating tour! Let you go into a river in the middle of the jungle. And if you want you can sleep in the jungle on a platform. We did it, it was a nice experience. The dinner was not as good as expected, so you should plan to have sandwiches.response / report this review -

I had a great time in Drake Bay thanks to Pacheco tours. Eric is extremely helpful. I did the night walk, the corcovado national Park tour and the cano island snorkelling tours. The tours were run well and the guides were fun and friendly.

Really good cabin and tours! Erick knows what hospitality is. Got some emails back in 3 minutes and he arranges everything you want. His father Carlos is a super guide! We really enjoyed the snorkelling tour and the floating tour with him! After the tours you can chill out on your balcony with the most amazing view over the Pacific, even with ara's flying over on a daily base! Would recommend it everyone!

Erick Pacheco is a super laid back nice guy. He was very accommodating, thoughtful, and helpful. He gave us great recommendations around town and the tours we took through him were amazing. His rooms are affordable, clean, have A/C, and great views of Drake Bay. Highly recommend!

All the visits were really well organised. We had a lot of fun with the floating tour, the platform all alone in the great forest, the 4hours night tour and the corcovado with the baby pumas! The cabinas indigenas are very quiet, confortable and located in a peaceful area only 10minutes walk from Drake. Plus, the view is awesome !
