  Great place, great products, a little bit too expensive but nothing amazing for the country. To buy winter clothes in Costa Rica is a great place compared nb with other options like The North Face of less specialized but still warm fashion clothes. Bought a pair of boots there and (apart from having a 3 year guarantee) they are some of the best shoes I've ever weared.

  Unfortunately I had a very negative experience at Outdoor Tienda de Aventura. I purchased a tent that I later realized I didn't have a use for. When it was purchased, the sales associate removed the tent from its box and sold it to me only in the carrying case that it came in. When I returned to the store around 3 weeks later to return the tent, the same employee told me that I was not allowed to return it on the basis that I didn't have the original box that it came in. I explained to him the circumstances, and the fact that he removed the box and kept it, only to be told that his boss wouldn't allow me to return it. I asked to speak to his boss, and was told that I couldn't because she was in a meeting. He then told me to return a few days later when they receive a new box for the tent. I came back 4 days later, only to be told the same story. They said the best they could do for me is take the tent back for store credit after marking it down 20%. I believe that in general, customers shouldn't take a loss for mistakes that store employees make. I was appalled at the way the store owner spoke to me, insinuating that I was lying when I told her that her own employee removed the tent from the box. She threatened to check the store's cameras, and when I agreed, she went back on her statement, claiming that it would take too much time. Additionally, on the same day that I purchased the tent, my friend was sold a demo hammock without being told that the hammock was a demo. The time and money that I spent traveling to and from the store didn't even pay off in the end. I want to make sure that anyone in the future who is considering visiting this store should be wary that it is run by a boss who clearly doesn't value the satisfaction of her customers. Overall, extremely unprofessional management.
