Great hike, long enough but not too long, and not too difficult. Great view of the volcano. Great mix of rainforest, open air, and lava rock at the top. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great private, 1.5-2 hour hike.
This place was stunning. We saw one other family walking the trails so it was very peaceful. We walked trail 3 and saw loads of monkeys, Trail 5 for a good view of lake arenal, trail 6 (the lava trail) and trail 2 on the way back down. This last one was quite steep. The views were amazing. Take plenty of water as it was very humid all the way round.
Almost no one else on the trail. Fantastic experience, paths are split up nicely so that you can do anything from 1h30 to 3h hike! Saw monkeys and a bunch of leaf cutter ants, the view was good. Cost us 8$ instead of the 15$ at the national park
We enjoyed the hiking trails at el Silencio. They were easily managed and well marked. The vista views were fantastic. The best part was that we felt we were the only hikers in the area. Well worth the stop even if you only have an hour or two.
This has got to be the best-kept secret in Arenal. We loved the trails and were able to see many animals. We saw a total of 6 people on the trail the entire morning! The hike up to the lava tubes viewpoint was stunning. Very clean toilets at the trailhead and very friendly staff. Couldn’t recommend this place more.
A great place for hikes, lots of wildlife and amazing views of Arenal volcano.
Great walking trails and good views
Wonderful hikes for all lengths and skill levels. Amazing views of the volcano, ponds, Lake Arenal, rain forest and the rolling foothills. We never saw monkeys, but came upon plenty of tropical birds.
We were the only ones there. No need for a guide. Several trails to choose from. There are many openings where you exit the forest for a moment and the views are breathtaking.
Excellent hike, beautiful terrain Rainforest to lava field at the top.
Excelente aventura
Amazing smoking volcano
Many levels of hiking trails to choose from and probably the best kept secret for seeing Arenal and the lava trails. You can travel with children but be prepared to carry anyone under 5. We travelled with a 3 and 6 year old. If your looking for wildlife take the lower trails at the entrance first thing in the morning or near 4 pm. Drive up to trail 6 for the best view of Arenal, Lake Arenal and a 360 view. It's not necessary to have a guide and trails are clearly visible.
