Worth the trip from the U.S.
I entrust my dental health to Mesa Dental because I enjoy receiving quality, affordable dental care delivered by a courteous and professional staff. Friendly and proficient personnel handle all my needs; from scheduling, to transport, to procedure and all things in between.
If you are tired of the churn and burn process of most U.S. dental offices and not to mention the inflated pricing, then I highly suggest booking your flight to Costa Rica.

My experience @ Meza has always been top notch and even though I speak no Spanish I've enjoyed my 5 or 6 trips to Costa Rica. I've received seamless professional Care (in fluent English) & get mini vacations to enjoy the natural beauty and hospitality of Costa Rica. Over the last decade+ Dr. Meza, Dra. Marín , Dr. Umaña & wonderful staff have exceeded my expectations. So glad I read about going to Costa Rica for dentistry in N.Y. Times and happier still with Meza for quality treatment @ a fair price-THANK YOU ALL!!!

I am very happy with my Meza Smile. Jose drove me to and from the clinic back to my hostel for all five appointments. I got 2 veneers and 2 crowns by Dr. Marin. Their lab is superb. My greatest fear was that my crowns and veneers would look obviously fake (big and blocky), but they look incredibly natural. No one back home in the US can tell that I got dental work done. I also didn't realize that my old crowns (from another dental office in CR) were causing me gum redness and other issues. Dr. Marin resolved this as well. The best part from my experience is now I smile confidently and brightly in photos and when talking. This has changed my life! Thank you Dr. Marin and the whole Meza team!

After my dental case was rejected by many cosmetic dentists in the States, my diligent research led me to an option I had not previously considered; dental tourism.

Upon my discovery and confirmation of like credentials and accreditation of those who turned me down in the US, I had no reason not to put my faith in Dr Alberto Meza for my official smile make over.

I am happy to report that my first cosmetic tour was a fantastic experience and the extensive cosmetic veneer work performed by Dr Meza is incredible!

I received 20 Emax porcelain veneers, X-rays, molds, mock up, photos, dental cleaning, and mouth guard.
However, the work to create the illusion of a beautiful smile was challenging.
Dr Meza confidently informed me of the risk involved with creating an illusion to mask my significant cross bite and I agreed to move forward.

My final lab work resulted in a 1 mm lengthening, an oval shape with embrasures, BL2 shade from the bleach series, slight translucency along with slight undulations (ridges) veneer.
Making the final decision was not an easy one and Dr Meza and his team patiently assisted me during the decision-making process. Everyone on staff from scheduling to the result were professional and helpful in every way.

I scheduled my case about 6 weeks in advance via email. I forwarded a copy of most recent X-rays and selfie pictures of my smile and my consultation was completed by email and confirmed by telephone.

I arrived in Costa Rica May 7 and left the evening of May 18. My bite work was completed on my last day there.

Pick up to and from the airport and back and forth from all appointments was arranged by the office reception.
Very comfortable Mercedes Benz sprinter. When the sprinter and driver were busy or unavailable, an Uber was arranged in its place. I felt safe during my stay in Costa Rica.

My consultation was immediately upon my arrival and I was given a schedule of my upcoming appointments along with what exactly would be performed during that time. Everything happened as planned with some minor changes by an hour or so on a couple of days. No worries as I was there solely for my time with Dr Meza.

There was an intermittent 5-day period between my next appointment. These were the days my veneers were being made. During that time, I spent 4 days in Montezuma and Santa Teresa. I had an amazing time. Places I would have never ventured to had I not chosen dental tourism.
I did travel alone and stayed at a safe Hotel for my entire trip and I will honestly say that Costa Rica is very safe country, and if you go alone, you will feel safe too.

To keep honest, I will tell you the procedure is not for the faint of heart. You are in the chair for up to 3 hours for 2-3 of those days. For ME, I had lots of sensitivity and needed to be numbed. The chair is uncomfortable after long periods and your jaw is sore after your mouth being opened for a long time. There is a price to pay.
Understand going in you may need to address any issues with your dental health before even getting to veneers.
Luckily for me structurally my teeth were in perfect condition. And I left with my dental health in the same condition.

Overall, a fabulous experience with a knowledgeable astute dentist who I was able to effectively communicate my desires, and he executed a comprehensive plan with optimal results achieved.

Keep in mind I am submitting this review 8 months post, after my dental cleaning and 6-month check-up in the States and everything is going well, and my veneers are beautiful, and my teeth and gums are in the same healthy state.

I am so lucky to have found Dr Meza!

I just returned from 12 days in beautiful Costa Rica! I am a Physical Therapist and am part owner and founder of Olympia Physical Therapy & Industrial Rehabilitation, Inc. I have 41 years of experience in health care and am a retired Army Lt. Col as well. Meza Dental is second to none. State of the art facilities and superb customer service and care. I have had work done by both Dr. Meza and Dr. Castro in the 4 trips I have taken down there. These 2 doctors are excellent and very meticulous in their work. I have had a ton of dental work in the states and they are heads and tails above any other dental clinic that I have been to. Plus you save a lot of money and get a nice vacation to boot! I try to get to the beach each trip that I have made there (this was my 4th visit over the past 5 years!). Going from 32 degree weather to 88 degrees and walking in the water on the white beaches at Manuel Antonio, well it's a great way to spend a week. My bite and my smile have never been better! Thank you Dr. Ire Castro for your superb work this past 2 weeks!

My wife and I were both needed extensive dental care and the cost of doing so in the US was prohibitive. A friend recommended Meza Dental Care, and so we looked into it and I am very thankful that we did. They were very helpful from the very beginning, in helping us make decisions like where to stay. And, they chauffeured us from the airport, and from our apartment each day.

But, the quality of the dental care is the thing for which I am most thankful. It was of the highest standards. They were exceptionally competent and conscientious. Further, they were unusually kind, an important quality when doing extensive dental care.

When I first told friends I was going to Dr. Meza in Costa Rica, most suggested I was out of my mind and should stay at home to have the work done. I knew that here in the here in the States most dentists advised that the work would be done over a long period of time and the cost estimates were out of sight.

During my communications with the Meza practice, I was told that the work could be done in a week followed by another trip six months later. The cost estimates were well within our means.

To my surprise, I was well treated on my first visit to the office. Unlike here in the States, Dr Meza indicated that implants that I had done here were done very well as he would do them. Here in the States, each new dentist told me how poor the work of other dentists was. That was a comforting change.

The second, Dr Meza and his team placed ten implants in my mouth and with the medication provided, I was totally pain free not only after the procedure, but during the entire time I was in Costa Rica. I left with a denture and plan to return over the summer to have the work completed.

I would strongly recommend the Meza practice. They were very professional, ethical,worked quickly and most helpful. On my next trip, my wife will be returning with me to have implant work done.

This is a state of the art facility and staff. More experience and better facilities than available in my small area of Florida. I was very comfortable with the equipment and attention by the staff. Plus got to do it in Costa Rica. How great is that?

Dental care is never something I look forward to but when I need it I hope for professional, considerate care. Mega Clinic provided all that and more. The cost was reasonable, the staff very courteous, efficient and professional. The doctors all share the load in the clinic so you may see several in the course of your care. Please take that as a positive concept. It will have your care completed in the shortest amount of time and will give you the peace of mind that several doctors have viewed your case. Transportation to and from the airport and from your hotel to the clinic is a plus. I stayed at a hotel just a couple hundred meters from the clinic and walked Jose, the staff driver, will get you to and from the clinic in fine fashion.

All in all, I am happy recommending Meza Clinic without any reservation.

I could not be happier with the results of Dr. Meza's work and team with whom he works. I had heard good things but I never expected the level of service the Clinic provided-- talk about a wrap-around team. This was an entirely new experience for me as my dental care for the past 60+ years has taken place in the United States. They worked with my schedule and were in regular contact with the office of a plastic surgeon where I was having cosmetic surgery; they worked with a to make certain I never missed appointments in either clinic; they even made sure I had transportation when needed it. And then, there is the art as well as the science of dentistry that Dr. Meza has achieved. He has a gift.

So if you need a reason to come to Costa Rica besides fleeing winter, here's one; Excellent and affordable dental care. I just had 3 broken crowns replaced with solid porcelain ceramic crowns, a cavity refilled, a cleaning, and a full set of x-rays for $2,070. That included free pick-up and delivery from my hotel each day. Also my crowns were ready 2 days after the impressions were done! Meza Dental is amazing! Everyone was friendly and professional. Dr. Marianella Marin who did the work on me and made my smile better has more than 10 years of experience and excellent credentials. She and her assistant Mariela took great care of me during the process. Dr. Alberto Meza who apparently grew up in the business also made sure to greet me and make me feel welcome as well. I highly recommend Meza Dental Care!

"I just had my first annual checkup with Dr. Meza since completing my full dental restoration. After having three of my four fixed bridges fail, my local dentist told me it was time to consider getting an evaluation from a dentist that would reconstruct my entire mouth. She recommended a dentist in Baltimore, Maryland. A friend of mine had spent over $60,000 and wasn't finished or satisfied yet.

I couldn't afford to go down that road, so I Googled Costa Rica Dentist and emailed Dr. Meza. He called me and I sent him the x-rays I was supposed to take with me to Baltimore. Though I have a dental plan, I had no idea of what the coverage would be for implants and cosmetic dentistry. In the past, it was always a surprise. I bought a plane ticket, while Rebeca made hotel arrangements. Jose picked me up at the airport and provided transportation for my office visits. Dr. Meza asked me what I wanted and I responded Hollywood fix everything. I now have an upper fixed denture mounted on implants, while, the lower jaw has seven crownsthree of which are mounted on implants along with veneers on my front teeth. Everything matches. Everyone comments, 'What a beautiful smile'.

While sitting in the waiting room, I noticed that a patient was having a dental form filled out. I requested the same and turned it in upon my return home. To my amazement, they paid 60% and 40% depending on the procedure. I hadn't expected this. This allowed me to afford the cosmetic dentistry as well. Of course the dental plan would have paid for the same items at home, but the initial cost would have been over twice as much.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country for a vacation. Everyone is friendly and I have visited almost every volcano by my rented motorcycle. Don't believe the guidebooks. You can drive safely in Costa Rica. Though I don't speak Spanish, I had no trouble with getting directions from the locals who didn't speak English. I've also been Zip Lining and I roller skate at an indoor rink near Mall, San Pedro.
While in the office I have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world. This has been a truly remarkable experience. Who would have believed that going to the dentist could be so much fun? I can't wait for the next checkup and a hiking trip in the cloud-forest."

My wife and I had full mouth restorations at Meza Dental, and could not be more pleased. The quality of work and the patient experience are better than we have ever received in the US. The staff is extraordinary! Meza provides transportation from and to the airport and from and to the dental office, making the trip very pleasant. Hotels are cheap there. I recommend the Holiday Inn Aurola near the dental office and downtown. We worked in a few interesting tourist excursions during down time. We paid a fraction of what the work would have cost in the US. Flights to Costa Rica are cheap, and we sometimes used airline miles. You save so much on the high-quality dental work that it way more than offsets the transportation costs of getting there and back.

After spending almost $10,000 in the states on dental work and looking at another $20 grand, I had to look for alternatives. Dr. Meza was recommended to me by an insurance person (crazy, I know), and between the two trips my work took, it was a great experience the whole way. I never felt uncomfortable or worried about the work that was being done. All my work is holding up perfectly and I now have the smile I always wanted just in time for my wedding!

Great customer service, they drove me to and from the airport when i arrived and they gave me a ride from my hotel to the office. The office is very modern and clean, it is as nice as any dental office I have been in. I had an implant, two crowns and a couple of fillings done and they all look and function great. I didn't feel pressured to do any extra work like I have at most US dental offices I have visited. Also,Costa Rica is a beautiful country to travel in after / in between visits.

Dr Meza placed 8 implants for me over a 6 month period. I have experienced no problems. Dr Meza is brilliant. His staff is very helpful and responsive to the patients. The offices are beautiful. If I had been able to have this dental care all of my life, my teeth would have been in better shape. Thank you!

The very best in quality, professionalism, personal care and interesting enough quite affordable.
Dr Meza and Dr Castro was the attending professional on my dental care.
I'm retired military with Tricare enhanced dental, yet I chose to go out of pocket to use Meza Dental and very pleased I did. The entire staff was warm, welcoming and well trained.

Dr. Meza has his credentials from studying at UCLA in California USA and his staff are all fully trained professionals. I personally was totally satisfied with his work ethics and results. They are all very honest and are concerned with the patients benefits vs making a huge profit. In my experience the dental procedures here locally in Miami, Florida would have been approx $40,000. Dr. Meza gave me some other logical and affordable options and was able to reduce my expenses to Approx $11,000.00 plus travel costs. I was able to save approx $25,000.00 by coming here.

They repaired my mouth and I even enjoyed a vacation to boot!

After traveling to Costa Rica and absolutely loving the Pura Vida, I will be back.

They are not completely honest with their treatment procedure. They told me they will put crowns but I didn't know some of them are just veneers until later on checked by my own dentist.

1st of all, I am not one who has written many reviews (like 2 in my life) but feel compelled to write this one due to the phenomenal experience I received from Dr. Meza and his staff. My dental needs were extensive (periodontal surgery, multiple extractions, multiple grafts, and multiple implants). Anybody in a similar predicament understands the stress, doubt, confusion and all around craziness this presents. From day 1, when I hesitantly hit the send button on an email to Dr. Meza’s office to yesterday morning (1 year later) when I was brought to the airport after my final treatment this experience has been one of the most satisfying (strange term for dental work but true) ever. Each and every element of my dental plan at Meza was phenomenal. I could go on and on but will try and summarize:

Dr. Meza – I firmly believe, from day 1, that I was under the care of one of the finest dental professionals in the world. Incredibly talented, honest, and humble. Explained everything logically. His credentials are legit earned, and well deserved.

Other Dr’s; Completely top notch. Amazingly, nearly all my treatments (including routine cleanings, x-rays, pictures etc.) were done by Dr’s. Each and every one were absolutely remarkable. Dr. Marín skillfully performed or assisted in a few of the major surgical procedures. Dr. Irene Castro and Dr. Jose Umaña handled most of the cosmetic needs. Everything was fully explained and carefully performed.

Other Staff: Howard Siegler (Patient Relations) was incredibly helpful from day one till the end. I literally sent him 25 or more emails before my 1st visit and he tirelessly replied to each one. Sara Fernandez was the office manager (sadly leaving soon for another life opportunity) and was spot on with everything, including helping with my US dental insurance paperwork which surprisingly worked out without a hitch. And Jose was the perfect driver, always polite, always on time and always with a happy greeting.

Every dental situation is unique. I investigated getting work done overseas because of cost. I honestly do not know how much $ I saved getting my work done at Meza, because I had a very hard time getting honest estimates from reputable dental practices in the US. Every estimate I received from Meza Dental was exactly what I paid, there were no hidden costs or extra costs. The work was done efficiently and professionally. Thank you Meza Dental, may the blessings you bestowed on me come back to you all tenfold. You are the best in my book.

I really had no reason to think that a dental tourism trip to Costa Rica would cause problems. I've had friends and relatives do it. My aunt, in fact, was the one who recommended Dr. Meza, as she'd been to him herself. So I made my appointment and bought a plane ticket.

Now, six months later, I realize it was a mistake. My tongue is still numb and one of the teeth they worked on is starting to give me problems. In short, here's why I wouldn't do it again and why I can't recommend Dr. Meza:

1. The dentist (Dr. Bravo) grinding one of my teeth to prep for a crown had a lapse in attention, her tool slipped, and suddenly I felt pain and tasted blood. Dr. Meza came in to give me stitches and stop the bleeding so they could continue. Dr. Bravo blamed me at first, saying it was because I moved my tongue.

2. At the end of that day, I left their office without an apology, pain killers, or medication for the cut. How can that happen? They did call to apologize the next morning and brought me pain killers and medication, but I'd already gone through a difficult night.

3. My teeth are still sensitive, and as I mentioned above, now one of them is giving me serious pain. I don't know what they did wrong, but I do know they did something wrong.

4. I had my regular cleaning a month after my trip, and my dentist in the US looked at the x-rays and had some concern about the potential for problems occurring at the margins of some of the new crowns. (I got 7.)

I started the whole thing with high hopes, but now I know it was a mistake. My tongue is still numb on the left side, and that affects my taste somewhat. And that really summarizes my whole experience. My trip to Dr. Meza's office has left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. It's also not going to be as inexpensive as I thought because I'm about to have another dentist fix the problems they created.

If you're considering going to Dr. Meza's office for dental work, think long and hard about it first. My experience is only one, but the number of problems I experienced leads me to believe that they're not doing high quality work.

Update on item #3 above, 12/24/15:

The pain I was feeling last week led to an emergency, out-of-town root canal. It was in the tooth that initiated my trip to Costa Rica, as my dentist in the US told me i needed a crown AND a root canal in that one. Dr. Meza looked at the x-rays and decided I did not need a root canal. So they put a crown on a tooth that really did need a root canal, as I found out last week.
