Omg
The most entertaining, enjoyable, memorable meals of our entire trip to Costa Rica!!!!
Amazing food!! But those drinks!?!?! Out of this world!!!
Lazlo's Catch Of The Day - a retired game fisherman who catches and sells fish, always served with garlic butter and fries - this could not be missed.
But believe me you could, we walked past it twice before a shaggy haired youth, sat in a nondescript beach shack, simply told us ‘this is the place you are looking for'.
He introduced himself as 'The Son'. Shortly afterwards Lazlo himself appeared smoking a cigar, he had the frame of uncle fester, took two big puffs of his cigar and then walked off into the distance. That was the last we saw of him, not a word spoken.
'The Son' nonchalantly asked if we wanted a drink (no menu), so we asked do you have cocktails or is there anything you would recommend? He modestly replied 'Everything I make is retardedly good' so we went for two Gin based cocktails and two red snapper.
It wasn't long until the food and drinks arrived, first impressions on presentation, good, second impressions after tasting them JESUS CHRIST, so good. This was epic. The next 20 minutes of dining we will savour for a long time, nor will we forget as 'The Son' watched us eat every bite and even provided commentary in what was a totally bizarre but worthwhile experience. Never have we had the chef tell us how to eat the meal he has just cooked. 5 stars for sure.
Do not try to understand the name f the fish that you are going to eat. It s just very good , fresh and tasty. The plate is big, balanced and should be coupled with a good cocktail. It s usually full, but it s worth to wait, if the fish is not finished!
Robbie and Stacy took great care of us despite some technical difficulties in the restaurant that forced them to close early. They actually sold us marinated fillets to take home because they were unable to prepare it and it was our last day. Amazing fish. Robbie is a cocktail wizard. One of a kind place. Your Puerto Viejo trip isn't complete without dining here.

If you like fresh fish with a good drink, oh! the fries
Amazing. Lazlo and his crew can cook a fish. The day we went they had Amberjack and Red Snapper. His gregarious son makes a mean cocktail as well. Ask for the Caribbean Old Fashioned.
Great place, great bartender, great cocktails, great food
I see why they don't bother with a sign. The place was packed on a Monday night by 6:15. Nothing available tonight but red snapper, but it was prepared perfectly and was delicious. This was a great find.
We've been there twice and both times we had a great dish (Red Snapper and Swordfish). Very delicious - and the drinks also. There is no sign and no menu because you always get the catch of the day!
Amazing fresh fish caught that day. You pick whatever he has caught and it's cooked to perfection. We went around 8pm and squeezed on a table with another couple which was great fun. Thanks for a great evening.
Absolutely amazing fish! Simple yet delicious! If you arrive at 6 be prepared to sit for a bit they may not be quite ready but I'm telling you it's worth the wait! Don't leave! It's so good! Lazlo takes people out fishing on his boat so if that's something you're interested in just ask him. He's very approachable. His son is the animated bartender and he makes a mean drink. If you like fish and a relaxed environment you'll meet some great locals here and eat delicious food. I'd go back for sure!
i will be dreaming of the tuna meal I had there for the rest of my life. When the tuna came out it was giant, like a T-bone steak, cooked perfectly nice and rare with great seasoning. The place runs on simple fresh ingridients and the best fish you will ever have. Only down side was the bar tender, would have loved to have had more than one drink during my time there, food was perfect
