Went on dinner with couple of friends and food was very good (all had same opinion). Price is ok (paid around $55 per couple, 2 main courses and 2 drinks). Restaurant is nice and has a good atmosphere. Recommended

The best restaurant experience we have ever had due to one fantastic waiter named Walter. The food, the wine and the restaurant’s ambiance were all really good but what made it exceptional was this restaurant’s waiter named Walter. Our night began by being referred to this restaurant by a neighboring establishment. Not familiar with downtown San Jose we walked by the restaurant’s closed door and asked two men sitting outside this restaurant if it was open. Two very polite men said it opens at 6. It was 5:30. Asked us to come back and if we wanted we could wait at a nearby ice cream place. I asked about where we could wait and have a glass of wine. This is when the service beyond I have ever seen started. Walter and this other nice man invited us in. Walter had us sit at the bar and cheerfully began a wine tasting experience. When the restaurant officially opened he showed us to our table where from start to finish was exceptional. We were invited back into the kitchen where they showed us the cooks preparing our steaks and dinner. Walter gave my husband a flower to present to me during dinner without my knowledge. Our meal was so delicious served at our table on a cast iron grill. We were on our honeymoon and had been touring some of Costa Rica’s beautiful sites for the past 7 days. How lucky on our last night in the country to have been introduced to this fabulous restaurant and experience. Kudos to whomever hired Walter. He is a jewel! All the great food in the world is nothing if you don’t have great service. We were fortunate enough to have had Walter as our waiter and not just give us dinner but an experience of a lifetime. With only a quick weekend stay in San Jose, we came to La Esquina De Buenos Aires for dinner on Sunday 11th March 2018 with no reservation. Packed full, after a drink at the bar, they quickly showed us to a table. Everything from the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food made for a wonderful evening. Totally enjoyed the high quality food from the shrimp and capacio starters to the most delicious steaks. The mouth watering complementary bread and assortment of fresh condiments were an added bonus. Would highly recommend here if you want great food, fast friendly service in great surroundings.

Interesting place. Food is good, small servings. Drinks are lousy. Service tries hard but isn't very coordinated. They actually seemed surprised to see us. Probably didn't try true Argentina food. Place fills quickly maybe we missed something.

Personally we don’t understand the hype around this place. We had a salad Argentina and Melon with Serano ham to start with, both excellent. A very good wine selection is available, also by glass. The service brought white wine instead of the ordered red. Mistakes can happen. Then the beef for the main course arrived. For an Argentinian steakhouse a total disappointing. One beef was not tender at all. Impossible to eat. Never happened before in an Argentinian restaurant. They immediately changed it for a new piece, which was fine. The other piece of beef contained 30 % fat, which is good for the taste but not in that quantity. All in all not a good choice.

Very good food. Some of the best food in San Jose over the last six months.

Service was exceptional. We had a steak and a seafood dish. Both were wonderful.

You should be sure to make reservations. They are quite popular and busy. They also have a great selection of wines to go along with your meal.

Absolutely the place to eat. My wife and I split the 1/2 mixed grill with lava cake for dessert. Garlic mussels for an appetizer, I would've posted a picture of dessert but it disappeared too quickly. I should mention the phenomenal service from the staff, a well oiled machine. The sangria was out of this world! Although I'll leave to say, lava cake with espresso was the best choice of the night. You gotta check this place out.

I don't say this lightly: The steak I had here was the best food I had in all of Costa Rica. I've had steak all over the world and the food here contended with my top restaurants in the USA. It's not cheap, but it's worth every single penny. I will dream of this night for weeks, maybe even months, quite possibly years to come. If you are from out of town you absolutely must go. Also, this is the first review I have ever written. I did not think monetary payment enough to pay for the meal I had here. For the love of all that is holy, please do yourself a favor and eat here.

It's one of my favorite places to eat a good cut of well prepared beef. The ambience is hip, and therefore prices might be steep. Only downside is its location. Word to the wise: when seating close to the window, watch out for crack addicts snatching anything you leave on the table.

Absolutely wonderful. I have been wanting to try this place for a few years. I finally did and the wait was well worth it. Had the mixed grill and it had all types if meat on it. All was tasty. Argentine merlot was a perfect fit to our meal. Followed by a wonderful coffee. Our server , top notch and very helpful with our many questions. I will return.

Based on other reviews I decided to have dinner here on my last day in CR. Unfortunately, my entire experience was disappointing. First, I was told that I could have dinner there but that they needed my table by a certain time, which wasn't great but understandable since I didn't make a reservation. The waiter was inattentive and rude. At some point when he was pouring water in our cups he realized he didn't have enough for me and just walked away, so I had to ask him to bring water. When we asked for a dessert he said that they didn't sell that or "anything similar to that" and walked away instead of making a suggestion or bringing the menu. Finally, I asked for the bill and he ignored me and took some orders before I had to ask again once I got my bill it was completely wrong. I'm assuming that if you don't dress up for this place you receive poor customer service. I give 2 stars because the food is okay (in fact, there is another Argentinean place in San Jose which is way better).

As a cook, I am really impressed with the food. Everything was great. The meat platter for 3 was great but just heads up, it can serve like 5 to 6 guys. Beef tonge was delicious and also the stuffed chicken with spinach was on point. Absolutely recommend it to anybody who loves their meats

Lomito was really good and tender, but too much meat!! and not so many vegetables aside. Dulce de Leche ice cream is good also. And the empañada (cheese and origano) was OK (those of "El Tenedor"are better).
A good restaurant. I paid 20.000 colones without wine.

Excellent! Menu is large with unique choices. My almond crusted sea bass was melt in your mouth delicious! Wonderful attentive service. My husband's steak was "done right"!
