We found this spot by accident and were totally surprised to find the cutest little beach side restaurant. We ordered a pizza with some cold drinks and it was perfect. The food, service and general atmosphere were perfect!

Stayed one night. Great location and pleasant beach side areas. Low stars mostly reflect value for price. Beachfront location is a dream! Away from the crowd but still close to tourist areas if you're driving. Older smaller rooms for couples almost rustic and hostel like so the price hurts.
Has kitchen inviting a longer stay but pricey!! You'd need to bring supplies cause not much available near by. A/c noisy and those smaller rooms back onto neighbors construction?noise but you'll probably not be in the room much during the day. Feels really safe but note no security box. No reading light. There is a restaurant on site. Ocean is strong there (hence surf's up!)so not much for swimming but gorgeous beach and estuary way down the way you can loll about in. Try for room 4 or 5 for better porch outlook. Avoid room 7 at this writing.

Great little spot. A couple really nice young guys (Felipe) have recently taken over the hotel and restaurant and are doing a great job.

I didn't stay here but certainly would. Nice little attached cabanas that surround the open-air restaurant, all tucked under some giant old trees. I surfed out in front just about every day and always stopped by for a yummy breakfast or a post evening session pizza.

They don't have beer or wine but are totally fine if you bring your own and drop in their fridge.

    Highly recommended.

Excellent, creative, engaging chef and wait staff. Scrumptious food. The quesadilla are to die for.

Ambiance is great, beachfront with a lot of green areas. Personal is young, lot of surfers.
Morning you have typical costarrican breakfast, service a bit slow but flavors is very good.
For dinner they have pizza, home made sauce with good taste. Music goes with the decor.

My best friend and I go on a trip every year for our birthdays to a new destination, and staying at Hotel Rancho Coral was definitely a highlight of this year's trip! The staff was very friendly and accomodating, with plenty of information regarding things to do and see in Costa Rica.

The room was clean and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed relaxing on the small patio and playing cards into the evening- plus, the beach is very close, with lots of comfy hammocks to relax and cool off in the shade in the hot afternoon. We felt it was definitely worth the price.

We were there during the off-season, so not all the rooms were occupied, but the other guests we did meet were friendly and curteous. It seemed like mostly families on vacation (this is not your party hub, if you're looking for nightlife, may I recommend somewhere like playa Jaco instead).

We hope to come back for another visit soon- 10/10, would definitely recommend.

Very good location with a nice quaint feel. The rooms and styling are older, and the rooms have multiple beds right next to each other, but the location makes up for all the drawbacks. The owners are super nice people, and the restaraunt serves good food for breakfast, however the evening restaurant staff are not very professional and have been in multiple confrontations with local clients unbecoming of the establishment, as such we avoid it at night.

Rancho Coral is right on the beach and is much like a motel in the USA was 30 years ago. The air conditioning worked (and that is not always the case in Costa Rica) and it is just short walk to be in the Pacific Ocean. It was nice to have lots of hot water too. The beach is is very pretty and very quiet. The food at the motel is good, but not cheap. There was a constant see breeze at the outdoor restaurant. The wood-fired pizza was excellent. The grounds are very pretty and the room was dated but clean. The price is not dirt cheap, but I suppose you are paying for the location.
