This is a lovely small hotel in probably the best location in La Fortuna.
The hotel backs onto the river and in the grounds you can find many varieties of wildlife - especially birds and frogs.
The staff are all very helpful.
There are a number of choices for breakfast in the little place next door and it made a change from the buffet breakfast at all the other hotels we stayed in.response / report this review -

We really enjoyed this hotel. Great location to walking for everything downtown in the city. Housekeeping went above and beyond. Nice pool. Very clean. Well maintained. Great breakfast each day included. Great Wi-Fi. My kids ready liked this and found it quaint!

Very clean rooms, great sized bathrooms that are handicap accessible. Night security guard on grounds. Grounds are very nice and well maintained. Air conditioned rooms with hot and cold running water. Parking off street with handicap parking as well.

Very helpful staff with recommendations on things to do in the area and restaurants to check out. They also helped out by calling and checking on one of our tours when we weren't picked up on time. The rooms were clean and had a great view of the volcano.

Monte Real is a gem of a hotel in la fortuna at the foot of the Arenal volcano. We had the pleasure of staying three nights, and it was wonderfully relaxing. There are tons of shops, restaurants, parks, and things to do within walking distance, and the volcano is only a short car ride away. The staff are exceedingly wonderful, the room and linnens were clean and fresh, and the grounds are very well kept. Our room had a full wall of floor to ceiling patio doors that offered us a gorgeous view of the volcano. Just outside our door was a quaint little pool with plenty of lounge chairs to stretch out and enjoy the sun and scenery accompanied by the sounds of the local wildlife and the rushing of the nearby river. Truly a beautiful hotel in a very beautiful location.

Very nice. Pool is small but this place is impeccably clean, dressed, and groomed. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also 24 hour security.

Lovely little hotel with excellent service and super helpful staff! Rooms are nice enough considering the rates charged. Breakfast is included at the small cafe down the street.

Good, clean Hotel with a central location in La Fortuna. The surprising gem of this Hotel was the garden/forest that backs onto the Rio. We were lucky enough to see three different types of Lizards and four different frogs on two short walks. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best of our 7 week trip.

Spacious rooms & washrooms. No complaints but also no specific benefits to stay here. I'd book somewhere else if I could. There are many hotels and resorts in the area that are much better for a few more $.

Very good hotel on nicely kept grounds. Ask for a room with a volcano view. Nice pool. Close to bus station. Have the gardener, Angel show you a sloth and the bluejean frogs.

Clean, simple and cost effective place to stay in La Fortuna. Reception was very helpful when I had to report my credit card lost and let me use the concierge phone to call North America collect. The hotel has a small swimming pool and offers free breakfast at a restaurant up the street. The staff were very helpful with giving directions and overall it was located quite conveniently to town.
However the main floor rooms that I encountered all had glass sliding doors as the only doors to get in, which I found rather unsecure.response / report this review
