El mejor hospital de Costa Rica. El más ordenado y con los mejores profesionales de la salud en el país. Los trámites y esperas pueden ser molestos.

I am not sure how this hospital is getting such good reviews, as a student that rotated in almost every part of this hospital I can honestly say it is a mess.
More than half the time they treat patients very well, the rest of the time is a unprofessional nightmare. The patients rooms are not very clean, a lot of rooms for consulting rooms are small and quite gross (a fan in one of them had years of dust caked on the grate), the public bathrooms are obscenely disgusting with pee everywhere around the toilet with little to no hand soap and if you pay attention you will easily see mold growing where it is not supposed to be. The only real clean places there are the OR rooms and ICU only becsuse they have to be.
Waiting lines to be seen by doctors can be very very long and is torture during hot days. Some nurses and doctors can be very rude but thankfully not all of them are. There are okay places to eat OUTside the hospital but nothing great.
Parking is a giant pain since they only reserve parking for people who work there or bringing in emergency patients. Everyone else has to see how they park around the hospital in the street costa rican style and do not piss off the randoms who watch your car, you will regret it.
When you go there be sure to take.
1. Hand sanitizer
2. A mouth cover if you are sick
3. Something to read or electronic device
4. Spare change for people that watch cars
5. Every piece of document you THINK you might need (paperwork a pain there)
6. Snacks
For a top tier hospital for costa rica it does not deserve the praise it gets.response / report this review -

Operado de un cáncer en 2015 y una amputación de la pierna izquierda este año solo puedo decir que es el hospital por excelencia de Costa Rica. Doctores profesionales y el personal muy amable. ¡Sigan así!

Es un excelente hospital. La CCSS como toda institución tiene retos de mejoras, Costa Rica no sería lo mismo sin la CCSS. Gracias.
