Had a great couple of days chasing Marlin. Greg was relentless pursuing the fish. We had good catches of sailfish, a couple marlin hookups, and some Mahi Mahi. I would recommend Greg and the Tres Amigos team when you are interested in a comfortable and productive day of fishing.
I really enjoyed my January 12th charter out of Golfito. Mark Sidney was very helpful in answering my questions beforehand and staying in touch by phone was free and easy. I wanted to use a fly rod and the 22 ft boat provided was ideal. Hooked 6 and landed 2, went home because my arms were worn out. Bring your 11-12 weight!
Captain Cory and his crew member were great. Great fishing trip plus they filleted fish and took to local restaurant for a fantastic meal which we shared with friends. Also, they had a really nice batch of live bait besides just using jigs and plugs. Thanks for all!
Great time hanging out with Bobby and crew. Mother Nature did all she could do to put a damper on our fishing days but we persisted. 8-10 ft seas and a nice hard tropical rain for 2 days. 70 miles off shore we got into fish both days we fished. Bobby is the man and next time down we will be fishing with Bobby again.
Working with Mark Sydney was excellent, Mark was always very responsive and the itinerary he put together worked perfectly. Mark is a professional. Fishing with Captain Bobby is a wonderful experience. Bobby is a very experienced captain and fisherman, he works very hard to see his clients catch fish. The three first mates that were with us for our 5 days of fishing were first rate. The three of them were very gracious, fun and did everything possible to make the trip enjoyable. Even though the weather was rainy and windy, Captain Bobby and his crew made the best of it and we were able to put a marlin, several large dorado and several other fish in the boat including three roosterfish. Many thanks.
We had a great time! Not a whole lot of action but that is no one's fault. We caught 2 sailfish and saw what seemed like thousands of dolphins! There were even a few sea turtles floating by the most excitement of the day was when a yellowfin tuna leaped out of the water right next to the boat! The weather was perfect and the sandwiches were delicious.
I wanted to describe our experience with my fiancé and going out on the Outcast with Captain Arturo week of June 25. It was our first trip going out offshore. The captain and mate were very accommodating and nice. Mark was great at helping set up the logistics of the trip with Petra from the charter service so that is only reason for 4 stars. However we did not have too good of luck, the fishing was fair at best. I did catch a couple small tuna. I think the captain felt bad and let us catch some grouper just so we have something to eat, but we didn't end up keeping any of them. The one small Tuna was enough to feed four people, so I'm not terribly upset. However, for the price we paid it was not worth the overall spend of $950. As far as trophy fish go we didn't even come close to hooking one. The tackle seemed a little old and outdated..? I did express that we wanted to focus on Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, and red snapper. I'm a pretty seasoned angler, and I understand the way it goes if the fish are not biting . I just felt we could have had better luck on a different charter considering there were other people catching fish in the area based on reviews.
I'm not giving 5 stars only because I wasn't thrilled with the actual fishing trip. Working with Mark was 5 stars though. Very responsive and clearly explained everything. The fishing trip itself was fair. I guess I was expecting something different or a better effort to find Roosterfish in Costa Rica. We just trolled and waited Also, the fishing gear was old and not well maintained. The boat was fine though. It was nice to be on the water, but I wouldn't go with this guide service again. I would use Mark's services again though.
Captain Mitch and Sean and Victor were great! My 15 year old son landed a sailfish and our boat reeled in a Marlin as well. Great time!
As owners and operators of Tamarindo Sportfishing we are always happy to work with Fish Costa Rica. They are professional, a pleasure to work with and always take great care of our clients!
Bobby McGuinness, Cazador Sportfishing out of Golfito, says: 'I have worked with FishCostaRica for the past 15 years, they hold my calendar, and are professional and great to deal with.'
Mark at Fish Costa Rica is a true professional. We had a complex travel plan, and I actually was an add-on with a different itinerary at the last minute in the planning and booking phase, which introduced a logistical headache for FCR, but you would not have know it. Mark was as kind and accommodating as could be and got things done quickly and accurately. The fishing captain and his crew were world-class. The other people who assisted our group were cheerful, efficient and exactly where they needed to be when they needed to be there, and the accommodations and food were top-notch. I would recommend Fish Costa Rica to the most discerning traveler. You will thank yourself for contacting them.
