I was a guest at the wonderful Finca Soley in July 2017. This place truly is a hidden gem in Costa Rica! Once you enter the domain you are warmly welcomed by the hosts and their whole crew – horses, dogs, cats and chickens. It’s a wonderful location with all comfort to both take some time to relax at the pool or to explore the biodiversity of this amazing country.

I spent 5 fantastic weeks at the Finca, and had such a wonderful time! Isa and Milton (the owner) are such great people and are welcoming volunteers and guests really warmly. It’s a real family atmosphere on the Finca. And not only the guests and volunteers are part of the family, but also the cats, dogs, chicken and of course the horses are. So, if you want to have an amazing time on a really nice Finca, with lovely people, I can really recommend you the Finca Soley! I would have loved to stay there longer!

Besides being a guest in the Bed&Breakfast, you also have the opportunity to take part at their Working Student Program which I did for 4,5 months. Before going to Costa Rica I was wondering how my time was going to be and my expectations have definitely been excelled. Isa and Milton were friendly and welcoming from the very first day and took great care of all the volunteers. It didn't matter if you needed advice concerning day tours or if there was any other problem, they always did their best to help everyone out. Especially the Natural Horsemanship lessons were really eye-opening since I learned more about the behaviour of horses and built a stronger relationship to my project horse than you do in most riding schools. With this project horse you take part at ground- and riding lessons and you are also allowed to practice alone during your free time. It was incredible for me to see how much you can achieve in 4,5 months and moments such as cantering bridleless for the first time will never be forgotten. In addition to the time I spent with the horses I was also able to improve my spanish skills, because the group lessons as well as my private lessons have always been very educating but still way more fun than the lessons I knew from school. Furthermore I really liked living together with the other Volunteers and you quickly form new friendships that sometimes even remain after the time in Costa Rica.
All in all my stay at Finca Soley was better than I could ever imagine and I can definitely recommend their Working Student Program. In my experience everybody (including me) who has been there for a longer time wants to come back as soon as possible to enjoy this amazing time again.response / report this review -

+: We didnt feel welcome as no one talked to us beside a student working on the farm. We had to wait for an hour until someone came and it wasnt possible to get dinner there. The room and the bed smelled bad.
-: The farm is big with a lot of animals and horses. They offered a nice riding tour. There is a familial atmosphere.response / report this review -
