It's a great spot to see local items ans tourist stuff however is expensive to buy fruits and vegetables here and often the items are sourced in San Jose then transported to Quepos for the weekend market.
My advice would be stay away and refrain from buying fruits vegetables from here and head to the fruit distribution shop over near restaurant "chicken in the run"

Example 3mill colinas for a large avocado.. thats almost 6.00

As for handicrafts and homemade food items there is some great bread available and other Tica items.

Small farmers market but has some nice fruit/veg. Quite a few souvenirs - definitely a market targeted more towards tourists. Woodcraft stall sells some awesome chorreadors.

Cheap cheap cheap and good vegetables. Try to visit at night time, they are fresher and it is not so hot. You can take your time.

Amazing selection of fruits and vegetables and many more products like cheese, crafts, and natural products. The Kombucha stand has delicious organic Kombucha with so many flavors as well as vinegars, coconut oil, soaps and much more!

Definitely a better, fresher selection on Friday nights, although Saturday mornings are quieter and easier to navigate and park. Bring your own reusable bags if you can to avoid lots of small plastic bags.

MUST SEE! Go here to try all the local exotic fruits, get some cool handmade souvenirs, and find the best artisan sauces around. Try a coffee made on the spot with a traditional Costa Rican drip rig such an experience!!

So much fun! Local farmers and artisans selling for cheaper than what you would get in the grocery/souvenir shops. They set up Friday afternoon, but we went after dark and beat the heat. They are there until 11am Saturday.

Our host showed us around and we tried all the native Costa Rican fruits. Offer them 100-500 clones depending on the size of the fruit to give the more exotic stuff a try before you buy. Java apples were my favorite (looked like a red pear).

If you are in the area Friday or Saturday then the market is a must. As travellers who are on a budget grabbing a weeks worth of fruit and vegetables for less than a restaurant meal is a huge win. But also top quality and size.

Visit the farmer's market on the malecon in Quepos Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. You can find fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, local cheeses, organic products, spices and clothing and handmade souvenirs. On Saturdays there is a stand manned by the local animal shelter showing the animals ready to be adopted.
