Loved this place, it was so good. The guy who owns it is from Texas so it is some Texas BBQ mixed with a Costa Rican spin. Highly recommend it.
Great Texas BBQ with a Coasta Rican flare, and excellent friendly service. The owners go out of their way to make each customer feel welcomed and valued. We love El Toro Loco, located on a busy corner in Uvita, serving breakfast and lunch in a casual setting. On Taco Tuesday, they offer all tacos at a discount. The tacos are wonderfully delicious with "to-die-for" homemade tortillas. We also recommend the brisket melt and Cubano sandwich. They also made a killer cup of coffee.
My husband and I shared the brisket melt for an early lunch with the potato salad. It was absolutely delicious-the best sandwich we had in Costa Rica (my husband says the best of his life). We highly recommend!!!! They also have free WiFi, are located on a busy corner with a good view of action, and are cash only.
I’m a little late with my review, but my husband and I visited Uvita last October and were thrilled to find Caleb and his amazing Texas bbq. We were equally shocked (and thrilled) to be offered sweet tea outside of the US. We ended up coming back two more times during our short stay because his brisket is incredible. Picture is of one of his brisket breakfast items. I had it the following morning as well. It’s nothing short of amazing.
Great affordable breakfast spot. I'd recommend the pork hash and the biscuits and gravy.
The best food I had the whole time I was in Costa Rica! Awesome place, amazing people!
Delicious pulled carrot sandwich and potato salad! I didn’t even share it with my husband he had to get his own! Will be back to try breakfast!
Fantastic Real Texas BBQ right in the heart of Uvita. Great food. I had the brisket melt and my wife got the pulled pork plate. Both were great. The menu has something for everyone. Kid friendly. Lots of expats there. Right on the main road. Owners are very nice.
Beer and wine, no cocktails.
Open breakfast and lunch.
The best BBQ, best service and nicest people. Ooh and go for breakfast and try the breakfast tacos. You can't go wrong with Caleb and Priscilla's place!
Wow breakfast is amazing, I love there bbq brisket sandwich but think this was my new favorite. Owners are super nice, really great place to stop.
What a awesome little food spot in Uvita directly on the street, you can't miss it. Kaylip, the owner is originally from Texas. A former chef, who is doing now excellent food in Costa Rica. Listen to his recommendations and you will get the best out of the best. In my opinion he is exactly a figurehead for great hospitality and wonderfull homemade food. Thanks Kaylip
Amazing food. I'm Cuban and their BBQ Cuban sandwich was incredible. Highly recommend the cold slaw (it's made fresh every day, and it comes with pinapples). The restaurant is run by a couple from Texas and their service was outstanding. Do yourself a favor and eat there.
Great food, owners handled everything Priscilla was our fantastic hostess and server and Caleb handled the cooking duties. Food was spot on. Don't miss the pulled pork sandwich, the Cuban or the fried pickles. Can hardly wait to give breakfast a spin am dreaming about homemade tortillas and biscuits and gravy. Will report back later on that!
Delicious brisket melt sandwich, fast, friendly service. Good value for money and the owner was super helpful explaining to us (non Americans) the different types of meat and how he prepares them
Went there with my family and they gave my girls some egg tacos that they ate up. My wife has an omelette that I didn't get a chance to try and I had a more authentic Costa Rican dish which I don't recall the name. Would very much recommend this place for anyone and looking forward to going back.
The food here is amazing and the owners are just as great. Definitely stop by!
Fantastic food - so glad a BBQ place is now in Uvita! All the sandwiches are good, but I would start by trying to Brisket and work up from there. Fried pickles are great too!
