Food was great! So delicious, I got the stuffed squid. Sadly the ambiance wasn’t the greatest, felt like maybe the staff wanted to go home for the night? Our reservation was at 9:30 pm and there was only 1 other full table at the restaurant.

Was kind of disappointing because it was our first night in Costa Rica. Oh well, maybe it was an off night for them but the food was amazing, the decor was gorgeous and I loved the plates the food was served on.

Nice place and nice ambience. The food is grilled on wood charcoal in front of you.. nice if you like that taste. My steak became really cold before I could finish it, and lost all it's flavor. They don't use a lot of sauce either. So unfortunately I could not finish my steak ☹️. And it's pricy.

The sunset is amazing to watch from the tables. You are UP and with no obstructions to see the sun set. The service is great for small groups - we had 15 but I could tell the single tables were well served. The food is diverse and tasty. Stuffed squid and stuffed octopus were cooked perfectly. Everyone gets a baked potato, and they are awesome. The cooking technique is for all to see and it's impressive. Fire on top, coals fall onto baking potatoes, then the coals are scouped down "shoots" to cooking tables. Impressive! A must go to place while in CR.

Great spot to see sunset. English menu available. Staff and speak fluent English. cc accepted. USD accepted. Specialized in grilled meat and seafood. Food nicely grilled, moist and juicy inside. 2 for 1 for selected cocktails at happy hour. Steep price tags. Leaving with half-full stomach.

Be prepared to pay double the price of what it is worth to eat here.

The sunset view is great, so be sure to arrive by 5:30pm. The wood-burning oven and how they used the charcoal from the oven to grille everything is interesting, but absolutely does not justify the high price they charge and the ordinary seafood. The mussels appetizer was better than the rest of the dishes I tried. Very disappointed.

Really cute place overlooking the water. They have a super cool wood burning stove where they cook all of the food. Everything was delicious, especially the appetizers (we had a cheesy jalapeno thing and a seafood dish in some type of sauce with delicious garlic bread to dip into it). Friendly service.

Excellent food and service. My husband and I hosted our wedding here and everyone had a great time. Everyone loved the food and the owner and staff were kind and very hospitable. Great drink options and terrific fillets .

Delicious and unexpected. The signage is deceiving -- this is a really nice restaurant with fresh seafood cooked over an open grill/fire, with a gorgeous view and great creative atmosphere. Chandeliers are made of oyster shells! It's pricey so be prepared to pay, but the quality is great and the view is outstanding. I loved the grilled mushrooms--favorite thing of the night. We also got banana coladas which were 2 for 1 but didn't taste that good. They have a great wine list though so I'd recommend going for that instead of a cocktail.

The food was so good. We ordered meat mix and green salad with grilled squid. Dishes were big enough for two. Everything was very juicy and tasty. We came late night After sunset so we didn't get to see the view but we were enjoying the grill contraption.

Wow, what can I say, we enjoyed El Lagarto so much that we had dinner there two of the four nights that we were in Manuel Antonio! The first time we went was Friday night, my birthday. We picked El Lagarto because we were in the mood for barbeque and the online reviews were good. It turned out to be an amazing choice. First, the service was spectacular. Daylin, Johanna and Wendolyn treated my partner and I like family. We were a little embarrassed that we didn't speak Spanish, but they made us very comfortable and spoke with us in flawless English. The food the best grilled food we've had in a long while. We enjoyed the whole fish (snapper) and a ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection! The sides were mouth-watering. Neither of us are big fans of baked-potatoes, but El Lagarto's baked potato was delicious and a perfect compliment to our fish and steak. By the time we left that Friday night, it was as if we were leaving a dear family member's home. We told them we'd be back, but we were sure they believed us. When we appeared Sunday evening dinner, we were greeted with soooo much love. That night, we enjoyed the grilled chicken and the baby back ribs and both were very very tastyand, of course we had the baked potato!!

Enjoyed the beef tenderloin and jumbo shrimp, served with a delicious baked potato, baked tomato and grilled zucchini. Great ocean views, perfect for a sunset dinner. Pricey. Service is NOT included.

This is a very nice location. We had dinner there as a family and we all had meat dishes. Our waitress was helpful and quick and the food was really tasty. However, we have had such nice food in other parts of the world and the cost was a portion of what we paid at this location. Overall, everything is nice, but not for the price we paid. What they offer is more likely priced for the NYC market, not for CR.
