Best bar in town! The staff are great, the music even better and the food is delicious.
Prices are standard for the area but it seems more worthwhile at Chivo as it's such a great atmosphere.

The service was good and the food was okay. Visited on a Taco Tuesday, so there was a bit of a crowd. The tacos were just okay, but the guacamole was good.

Food is super tasty and fresh. Ceviche is specifically good. Staff incredibly friendly and the drinks are also great. Worth the side trip to go. There's a small playground for the kiddies as well if they get bored.

We went once on Tuesday and Monday nights. On Tuesday they have half price tacos and on Mondays half price chicken wings if you buy beer with that. Food was quite good, we loved double IPA draft beer and nice atmosphere.

In the moment I met Matt, the image of Sir Richard Branson came to mind. Like Sir Richard, Matt's Costa Rico journey started where it was supposed to end. Matt didn't have enough money to head home at the end of his first trip. He certainly made the best of the situation. His wife, his daugher and El Chivo each serve as a testimonial to his character and commitment to his adopted home.
During Hurricane Nate, he had a simple goal, "Keep the Lights on". Through torrential rain, with 3 days of no power, he succeeded.
The food was to die for, The drinks were "mighty tasty" and the staff, including Henry and Carlos, were top-notch.
Our time at El Chivo was by far our favorite memory of our week of living dangerously in Playa Pelada. Thanks for the hospitality mate!

Came here from Samara for a couple of nights. What a blast. The food was great with lots of choice. Joellen and Matt and all the staff were friendly and helpful and smiling all the time. The night time entertainment blew us away. Particularly enjoyed Laura & Dan on Thursday night. Dancing with the Goddesses was a blast! Lots of really nice people -
expats and visitors and locals. Fabulous Monster Margaritas! If you are anywhere near Playa Pelada, stop in and enjoy.

Excellent drinks, food, and service at a reasonable price (for tourists). What more could you ask for? I ate sooooo many tacos on taco tuesday!

Food is good, but they are so overpriced and give you the littlest portions I have ever seen. You walk away hungry after paying $25 just for yourself. I honestly will not be back just for that reason

I ate here three times when I was staying in town. The service was always fast and friendly no matter how busy it was and everything I ordered always tasted great. Plus it is reasonably priced here.
