I feel very blessed to have found Dagmar Spremberg and her private yoga retreat. Dagmar and the beauty of her property provided a perfect blend of relaxation and yoga among the amazing sounds of the jungle. Sleeping under the stars and awakening to monkeys hollering and birds singing is a memory I will not forget. The design of our stay allowed us to have unhurried mornings with a yoga session followed by breakfast on the lanai and then exploring the area during the day. Hiking and zip-lining were close by, as well as the quaint town of Montezuma and ocean. Highly recommend this retreat! Thank you Dagmar!! Namaste.

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! If you are looking for a retreat in Costa Rica, THIS is the one!

I feel so lucky to have had this experience, Dagmar is a truly fantastic teacher. She is deeply knowledgable about yoga and health - you can tell how passionate she really is about yoga when she speaks to you. I feel that I've learned so much about my practice and my body in the short amount of time I spent with her. Little tweaks to basic postures or movements completely changed me! She is also a great listener and gave me fantastic tips and advice when I asked. I truly learned a great deal in just 3 sessions. She is super nice and easy to talk to! I felt inspired by her.

The space was really beautiful too! The outdoor shower was definitely the best part!!! Nothing beat taking an amazing shower while bird watching effortlessly. You are completely surrounded by nature in the room, it's the absolute most beautiful place I've ever stayed. Real life bird songs as an alarm clock and watching a baby monkey hop around the trees clinging to its mom from my bed!!! The most magical experience.

Sandy, who lives downstairs and made me breakfast in the morning is also just lovely. She is an incredible cook, everything I had was SO incredibly tasty and fresh. She was also the massage therapist and was so perceptive during the massage and worked on areas that I didn't even realize needed help! She is clearly a gifted healer in many ways.

If I ever get the chance to go back I 100% would! I highly recommend this retreat, it was all around incredible. Truly paradise. Thank you so much Dagmar and Sandy!

    Dagmar & Daniel's retreat

    John & Nidia Zabala ( Nov 23-26 2017 )
My wife and I are new to yoga and were looking for a retreat that will guide us and help us moving forward. We did 3 days with Dagmar and would have love to do more, but unfortunately she was already booked for the other days.
Dagmar and Daniel were amazing host. They made us feel confortable and safe around them and their home. Their place is located walking distances from an amazing water fall, natural pools, town and beaches. We stayed on their beautiful terrace bedroom, very private, clean and confortable. The room has glass walls, windows and doors that allow you to connect with the beautiful nature surrounding their home.
Dagmar yoga retreat was perfect for us. Her private teachings with us were well organice and designed to help us with all the knowledge and experience she has to offer.
Daniel among many things, is also great musician, artist that plays the hang incredibly well. This is an instrument I do not know much about, but when you hear the way he plays it, the sound immediately touches your hart. The last day of our stay he played it for us before we left. it was very especial of him to do that for us. THANK YOU DANIEL!!

Dagmar was everything we were looking for and more. We are so glad we attended her personal and private retreat.

It was a pleasure meeting Dagmar and Daniel. They are both two incredibly people.

    Pura vida!!

I had the pleasure of staying at Dagmar's retreat and having her guide and train me in Yoga in late November of 2017. She was a pleasure to work with - showing patience, persistence and a great knowledge of the subject matter that one can only hope for in a teacher. I was a beginner so patience was key and it was certainly provided. Aside from her graceful demeanor and depth of skillsets, her accommodations and hospitality were top notch. It was a beautiful setting and both her and her boyfriend were gracious and accommodating hosts. I would not hesitate going again nor recommending her to others. It was pleasure through and through.

I returned not too long ago from our magical 3-week adventure in Iceland, and had the good fortune of being able to attend Dagmar & Daniel's retreat in the north. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this retreat it was Amazing! My heart is filled with gratitude and love and light for the wonderful and inspirational space that was created and held by the two of them. Their co-created energy is contagious. I loved how accessible and inclusive Dagmar's classes were and her very down-to-earth and unassuming nature which supported my practice and made it a wonderful and magical experience each and every class. Daniel's magical "oneness" with the Hang only further enhanced and inspired my practice. I really hope to attend D&D's retreat again in the future and/or visit them in Montezuma! Thank you D&D for an amazing time and making yourself so authentically available and supportive. Namaste :)

I love the intimacy of the whole experience. Dagmar gave us private lessons that were tailored my friend and me. Dagmar and Daniel are very accommodating and know the town well and gave us really good recommendation on places to eat and see. Her treehouse and her private residence were better that I anticipated. Food was all delicious and fresh everywhere we went. I did not want to leave paradise behind. I felt like I made new friends in Montezuma and hope to follow Dagmar on more retreats around the world.

Our private yoga retreat with Dagmar was far better than what we imagined. The Tree House Loft was lovely, private and so cute! Each wall of glass opened to nature. Flying out to Montezuma, Costa Rica was totally out of the norm for us but we are so glad that we took a chance. I finally found peace being in the middle of the jungle. Each morning started off with a delicious smoothie, personal yoga and a healthy breakfast. The massage which was included in our yoga package was one of the best I have ever received. Her touch was light but effective and she had such great insight to my body.

Each day was a fun adventure-- hiking to the waterfall, visiting different beaches, monkey sighting, zip lining (scary), farmer's market, quiet time to reflect and read. We enjoyed the company of our hosts and felt enlightened through the shared conversations. Every single meal we had in Montezuma was delicious!!

Can't wait until the next yoga retreat with Dagmar and can't wait to return again!

    Paradise in Costa Rica!
The location is absolutely amazing and Dagmar makes it into a great experience. For a few days you belong to the family as much as you want - have great yoga customized to your needs, spectacular breakfast and just nice conversations. The tree house is super fun to stay in. Great views of the surrounding wildlife and the outdoor bathroom adds a wild Charme that just makes this special. Shower with monkeys - yes that is happening. Montezuma is just the right amount of Orginal and developed that it is just a delight to stay there and explore.
To me there were no cons. Other people may find that only 3G coverage is not enough for them, but really if this concerns you, this isn't the trip for you.

I had the most incredible time during my four day private yoga retreat in Costa Rica! Dagmar and Daniel are wonderful hosts. The accommodations are stunning, and Daniel's personalized, home cooked breakfasts are healthy and delicious. Sleeping in the open air loft, under the moonlight, listening to the birds and monkeys are an experience you can never forget. The backyard shala is such a special place to practice yoga, and the private sessions with Dagmar furthered my personal practice in unanticipated ways. This is such a unique and magical experience that comes highly recommended !!

if you're going to stay anywhere in montezuma, this is the place. staying at dagmar's beautiful rooftop retreat was such a beautiful experience! her & daniel were so easy to get along with & talk to, and it was so comfortable being around the property. the property is tucked away in the jungle up the mountain, just a few minutes drive to montezuma's quaint, lively town & gorgeous beaches. she was so gracious and welcoming, accepting my same day reservation with open arms (as it was a convenient time). the first day i arrived, monkeys were in the trees playing & frolicking about. the room is comfortable & bright, very private, and had everything i needed, including a refrigerator. one of my favorite parts was taking showers outside overlooking her colorful garden, with birds & butterflies flying by. at night, you could see every star in the sky and it was lovely having the windows & doors opened catching nice breezes & moonlight. although i was alone, it was quite romantic being there :) i booked a private yoga session with dagmar, and she was very attentive, and took the time to understand my yoga intentions & background & helped me a lot with form & posture. her passion for yoga is quite evident, i even took another class at her studio, montezuma yoga, with ocean views. i left her class feeling blissful & left her home feeling rested & light hearted. i'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there and to have met dagmar & daniel.

The private retreat I signed on for with Dagmar was exactly what I needed - a break from the hustle and bustle of NYC and just spend time to connect with myself. Our daily yoga sessions were held at Dagmar's cozy garden shala - imagine doing yoga with birds chirping all around and feeling the breeze coming from the trees. I also did drop in sessions at Montezuma Yoga Studio by the beach, which Dagmar founded and where she holds daily classes. It was fantastic just doing asanas surrounded by nature.

The artist loft I stayed at was gorgeous - sliding doors and windows all around, and a view of the sky at night so I can watch the stars as I fall asleep. And the daily breakfast served was delicious. Daniel can cook anything, and he can cater to any diet or preference. I have a particular liking for healthy foods, and that was what I got (and more). The ingredients he used were so fresh. Great way to start my day!

And the town of Montezuma itself has such a chill and relaxed vibe. People are very friendly and there is no one rushing or pushing you into doing anything. You can laze the day away at the beach, eat at one of the many restaurants in town, sign up for different tours, or go rent an ATV and travel around the Nicoya Peninsula.

I would definitely do this all over again in a heartbeat.

My mom and I spent the most magical and unforgettable 4 days at Dagmar's private yoga retreat. This was an even more special trip because I wanted to share the gift of yoga to my mom and now thanks to Dagmar she is beginning to practice regularly! Some memories: waking up to the sounds of the jungle and seeing the lush green canopy all around us from the treehouse container loft, showering al fresco while feeling the warm breeze and hearing the music of the birds and sometimes even monkeys, eating a delicious and nutritious home cooked breakfast every morning in the lovely garden, candlelit dining by the beach to practicing every day in the beautiful hand built shala at Casa Marocthis is the place to go for those who seek to attain Samadhi!

Our hosts Dagmar and Daniel are warmhearted and delightful people - to top it off Daniel is a fantastic chef, a hang musician, and an extremely talented artist! Be sure to check out Dagmar's beachside yoga studio and take a sunset class (if you're lucky you will catch the one where Daniel performs hang to the practice), book a massage, take a zip line or snorkeling tour and dine beachside at some of Dagmar's local spots. I feel happy and relaxed just writing this - I promise you will never want to leave Montezuma - until next time!

Of the countless yoga classes I've taken over more than 15 years, Dagmar remains one of my all time favorite teachers. She greets all her students with a smile and gracious warmth. You immediately feel welcomed into the studio wherever she may be teaching around the world. Her years of experience as a yoga teacher shows in her ease and confidence as she guides you into the yoga practice. If you are lucky enough to take a private lesson at her yoga shala in Costa Rica, you will never forget your experience.

Yoga retreats with Dagmar are extraordinary. She takes care of you better than anyone I've known. The yoga classes are well planned and fun, the friendship and conversations are deep and personal and there is hardly any small talk. If you are looking for a real yoga retreat with real people, don't miss Dagmar's treats around the world. She picks the best spots, super organized and absolutely phenomenal yoga teacher. If you are lucky, you might have a chance to listen Daniel's hang, and then you are in heaven.
