I really enjoyed my experience here, it was one of my highlights of traveling Central America. The owner Cristhian is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the park and the surrounding area. I messaged the hostel via Facebook with bus questions since I was traveling from Uvita, which he replied with helpful and accurate directions. When I arrived I was tired and exhausted from a long weekend. Cristhian asked me what I wanted to do while here, which I observed he asks everyone who arrives at his hostel. Some information can be hard to find online or in books about Corcovado National Park so I really appreciated his wealth of knowledge, suggestions, and desire to be helpful. I came to Puerto Jimenez to do jungle treks and see wildlife in this biodiverse place. Since the park only gives out so many permits per day (which I didn’t realize, but Wild Corcovado Hostel does advice to contact them ahead of time before visiting due to permit reasons on the website). Cristhian recommended me a local company to do my overnight trekking since he already had day tours scheduled. I waited two days to do my overnight trekking, so I joined his day tour in the meantime to of the park. As a guide he was very passionate and knowledgeable, wanting his clients to see the most they could. As other groups were passing us he was always pointing out or sharing something interesting. I would highly recommend Cristhian as a tour guide of the park, a resource for information of the surrounding area and the hostel itself. I stayed in the dormitory for two nights and moved to a private due to the hostel being full and I extended my stay due to my overnight hike. I recommend both types of rooms. The dormitory was spacious with ample side tables and most beds had curtains. The private room had a private bathroom, an AC unit and mini-fridge. This hostel really offered a place to suite all.
It was a 10 minute walk from the bus station, this walk was completely do-able. There are signs along the way, follow them and they will take you there. If that bothers you, there are taxi’s. I felt like the walk was worth it, the hostel was peaceful, relaxing and intimate. There was an outside kitchenette (fully stocked), as well as a hang out space with hammocks, swings, and couch/chairs, which were all well-maintained and clean.response / report this review -

The room are great but the manager not soo much, he's a bit rude and also never there so paying your night or asking info is quite complicated

Très bien pour passer une ou deux nuits à petits prix. On peut le voir comme un plus, on est vraiment chez l habitant. Petit plus (on l a su trop tard) le propriétaire est guide. Si vous n avez pas encore voilé votre visite et que vous voulez une journée dans le parc, demandez lui. I

This place has such a calm and peaceful vibe. I loved it. The first morning there we were greeted with a toucan eating papaya out of the tree right in front of us! Christian was so informative about all the different jungle tours, what to do and what to avoid, while my boyfriend and I stayed here in February. Puerto Jimenez won our hearts over as the best place in Cost Rica during my second trip of visiting 5 different regions, and it had a lot to do with the amazing tips given to us by the staff. Adele, the work stay at the time (such an awesome girl), told us about the hidden wondrous gem that is Matapalo and how to successfully get there. Couldn't say enough good things about the hostel. I can't wait to return and stay here again.

Realy good and cheap place to stay. The host - Cristhian is a perfecr guide for to Corcovado tours. Totally recommend this place!
