The best place for a quiet dinner at his resort

Although the property is beautiful, our dinner was mediocre at best. The onion soup and the shrimp bisque were watery and flavorless. The rib dish was one little gristly rib and one entree never arrived.

Great location and friendly staff. Food has been consistently good. Only gripe (thus not 5*) would be an uninspired beer seĺection.

Worst restaurant experience so far in all of Costa Rica.
To start, the restaurant was open air with no A/C. This would be perfectly fine and enjoyable if they did not request you to wear "Beach Elegant", i.e. pants, shoes and a button down. Given the heat an humidity this does not make for a pleasant dining experience, but this was just a minor annoyance.
The real problem was that the food and drinks were just terrible.
-The calamari was rubbery, all rings, and mostly bread. It was pretty clear that it was pre-made frozen. No one at the table had had a second piece.
-The Tomato soup was uninspired and tasted like a run of the mill canned soup.
-For the main course a couple of us ordered the beef loin. What was delivered was one of the worst cuts of meat that I have seen at any supposedly decent restaurant. Rather then a nice clean evenly thick cut, it was a lumpy & gristly mess. Due to this odd cut it ranged from rare to brown & burnt, rather than a consistent medium rare. The taste and smell did not inspire any sense of freshness. I was only able to eat a couple of bites and I'm not the type of person to not finish my steak.
-The Tiramisu was the only dish I actually finished. It was ok but nothing memorable
The drinks were pretty poor as well. We ordered a margarita which tasted like store bought plastic bottle mix. Also tried a cosmopolitan which was excessively sweet .
The previous night we ate at "Bamboo", the Asian fusion restaurant on the same property, which was actually quite good. Hoping the other options at the Westin are more like that.response / report this review -

Great service! Shrimp cocktail and tuna tartare were my favorites for lunch. Presentation of all the dishes was particularly impressive!
