When you stay here, you feel like family. These beautiful cabins, built by Werner, are full of personal touches. Everything from Marí’s beautiful paintings, which adorn all the cabins, to Werner’s delicious cooking, exudes a warmth that makes you feel at home in the jungle. Werner, Marí, and their helper Victor went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, and their friendly dogs and cat helped ease the pain of missing our own pets back home. (They are the sweetest little pack!) Werner and Marí helped us with laundry, arranging activities, and coordinating boat rides. Not to mention lots of great conversation and plenty of patience with our terrible Spanish.

Our cabin had a beautiful view of the ocean, two hammocks on the porch, a full bed, plus double bunks, a tidy bathroom, two large windows, and a powerful fan to keep cool. Our meals were served buffet-style and were always delicious. Honestly the best food we ate in Costa Rica, and sharing candle-lit meals with the other guests led to great conversations and connections. We even had an evening jam session with my ukulele and a guitar they have on site for guests.

The area around the cabins is beautiful. Drake Bay is fairly secluded, so you will not be surrounded by tourists. The jungle is full of beautiful plants and wild life. During our time in the cabins, we saw a sloth, several packs of Howler and Capuchin monkeys, iguanas, hawks, hermit crabs, and so much more. The beach is beautiful and private, but make sure you catch it at low tide for the best experience. There are several hammocks that are in the shade all day for relaxing on the beach without the sun.

You will not find a better jungle experience for a better price in Drake Bay. The love and dedication that Werner and Marí put into these cabins is self-evident. If you come here with an open heart, a passion for nature, and a love of adventure, you will not be disappointed.

I had the best time here. My cabin was spacious, with several hammocks outside to choose from.
Watched a couple of monkeys pick fruit from the tree beside me as I swung in the hammock one day :)
Hot coffee in the morning & breakfast incl. fresh fruit. I arranged for dinners as well and the food is fantastic.
Super nice people, made me feel at home

This definitely is the place you want to stay if you travel to Bahia-Drake! Cabinas Vista Al Mar el Aleman is a great value!! Mari and Werner are welcoming and helpful hosts. Both were very helpful guiding me on my journey there..from suggestions of where to stay in San Jose, to transportation options (including calling ahead to have my taxi and water taxi wait for me because the bus was a little delayed). I took the bus there and then flew out from the Drake Bay airport. Mari also helped me book a whale watching tour (at a very reasonable rate!).

They showed me around their place as well as hiking with me to town. It is a hike up to the cabins but Jackson was there to help lighten my load. The steps up to the cabins are cement and easy to traverse. As we walked, Mari was very helpful in pointing out different flora and fauna along the paths. It was lovely to sit at the cabins and look out over the canopy watching monkeys play and birds fly around. The sounds of the jungle are a tranquil tonic!

Mari and Lidieth are excellent cooks! Meals were delicious and satisfying!! Mari often served snacks grown on the property. Coconut milk was a favorite of mine and then spooning out and eating the coconut meats!! Pineapple, rambutan, mango, banana and papaya. Oh and lemon/lime juice squeezed fresh!! Meals were family style around a big table on the main house porch.

The cabins were simple but clean. There are beds, a small table, a ceiling fan, and bathroom with a shower. The wrap around deck was furnished with hammocks to relax in to watch the jungle. So comfortable I napped in one! Mari is an artist and has painted the cabins and eating areas with murals. The paintings are gorgeous and gives one an idea of what to look for in the jungle! She also has painted plaques and beautiful vases.

Both Mari and Werner speak English, which was a plus because I don't speak Spanish and very little German. Mari was great about teaching me Spanish words! Getting the Whatsapp was helpful to be able to talk to them without having to get an international phone plan.

Thank you for a soul-enriching visit to paradise!!

This hotel is the hidden gem of drake bay Costa Rica. The room was clean, the service was excellent, and the food was amazing. The view from the cabin over looked drake bay and was to die for. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone who isn't looking to break the bank.

This was my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. It was a true jungle experience. The private beach was amazing to swim in at sunset, and there were monkeys and flowers, fruit, etc.. I stayed in the cabina facing west, and so when I sat in a hammock I had jungles, monkeys, and ocean to look at it. I absolutely love this place! Werner makes the most delicious coffee in the morning and both he and Mari are very helpful and wonderful cooks. I highly recommend!

I was just here for visit, but the place looked really nice. More remote, so good if you're looking for a place to relax and find time for you or your family. with a very nice and not crowded beach. All Corcovado activities are possible and the owners are really nice.

Es mi lugar preferido para descansar y desarrollar mi proyecto en la parte artístisca, pues me estoy iniciando como artista visual y al estar en medio de la naturaleza y al frente con la vista al mar, hacen que me inspire más
