I actually enjoyed this hostel since the it was just slightly outside of town. The staff were very kind, but do expect to be bombarded with tourist suggestions and tours that can be sold on spot. They have a security guard doing night watch as well.
If you are looking to do a coffee tour, look into the less crowded ones. We went to Cafe de Monteverde and was pleasantly surprised with the sustainability factor.

Affordable and Nice place, also the staff are very helpful and you can do tours with them and explain very well what includes in Every tour. The food it's great ask for a "Casado" and for a Shake , when you are a guest in this cabina and you eat in the restaurant you have a free drink when you buy a meal of $8 dls o more. Why i don't give 5 stars?, they have a very limit parking lot, and they don't have AC and fans , the weather it's great but sometimes humid

This is the kind of place where if you stay more than one night you will be greeted by your first name as you come and go. The hosts and receptionists (Diego and Erick) are both friendly and extremely informative.

The hostel sits on a gorge with fantastic views while you enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast, included with your stay.

My personal experience here warrants mentioning: I left a bag of toiletries in my room when I took the car-boat-car shuttle to La Fortuna (worth the $25 they are asking, but I digress). After emailing Diego at Cabinas Vista al Golfo they not only found my bag but sent it along with the next shuttle coming my way, who then delivered it to the hostel I was staying at at the time. Amazing.

Excellent service. Very helpful at check in and with securing tours. All staff refer to you by your first name the duration of your stay. Great breakfast included.

Clean. Has kitchen. Rock hard pillows. No room cleaning if staying multiple days. Nice staff.

My first stop in Costa Rica. Stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. Erick helped us in booking all the tours at hostel.We did whole bunch of tours but ATC was crazy good. Staff here are super friendly. Free breakfast and hot showers. Even though it was raining all the days we were there, we absolutely had fun staying here and exploring Monteverde.

The hotel is fine and the view is beautiful. I didn't really enjoy the way they try to sell you trips, and the breakfast is a very small portion. I suggest you buy food to complete it.

The only positive thing about this place is the staff, they were excellent. Location wise it is off the beaten path, but still noisy from guests and road traffic. Our room had no window to the outside world, as a result smelled damp and mouldy. Booking day trips with them is cheaper and they organise everything. Only odd thing is breakfast is at a reserved timebut must be due to small dining area

Really nice staff and the breakfast they include is so good. They have a great view and private rooms are big enough for two. Shared bathroom was small but ok. It has a kitchen you can use that has everything you could need to cook and a lounge area with a BBQ.

Nice hostel about 5-10 minutes walk from the main part of town (albeit along bumpy road). Great view & amenities in private room (e.g. cable TV). Staff were friendly and helpful with booking tours. However with all the rules it does feel like a bit of a camp at times (e.g. no food in rooms, have to book a breakfast time). But overall a good option.

The people on the front desk were very helpful, but our booking got messed around and we ended up with a room right next to the office. Had early starts and was kept awake by people coming in and out of he hostel, using the toilets, and drinking. The windows didn't seal properly so it blocked non of the noise and had a terrible sleep the night before going to the reserve. It was a shame because it affected our day hiking the reserve (and main purpose for visiting Santa Elena).
We stayed in another room and it was better, so ensure you check the room first before you accept it!

One of the better deals in Monteverde. Stayed at another place that was a bit more money the day before and it wasn't as nice. It's a basic room in a tourist town. Everything was clean and in good shape. Very friendly front desk. They have laundry for $4/Kilo, one of the cheapest in town. Solid breakfast in the morning is included. Great views.

We stayed here for one night but certainly would have liked to stay longer.
Rooms are nice, breakfast is included and nearby are economical sodas.
On a clear day you also have a nice view from the common area.
If you're traveling with suitcases, take a taxi from the bus station as the street is a rough dirt road - if you're backpacking you're fine as it's just about 5-10 min from the center.
