The view on the road up to the butterfly garden is magnificent. Dave, the butterfly man built and maintains this beautiful gardens himself. He is very knowledgeable about the different species in Costa Rica and you can see the various cycles from egg to caterpillar to pupae to butterfly all in action in different areas of his garden. He also has an outside hummingbird garden that if you have 10 min to sit and meditate you will see several types of these amazing birds in action as well. Highly recommend this for a group or family trip. I think that they can pick u up at the base of the mountain if you arrange it with them. Have fun!

I came on vacation from Miami and really enjoyed the butterfly garden. The canopy tour (zipline) at Osa ends next to the butterfly garden. They had a big variety of types and the largest butterflies I have even seen! I saw hummingbirds, a baby deer, and dozens of blue morphos. My tour was lead by the owner who is very knowledgeable and he gave around an hour long tour. I recommend this tour and I look forward to the animal sanctuary that looks like it will be ready in spring 2013. Pura Vida!
