Unique place at back of town like staying in treehouse in the jungle. Not on beach. I liked it! As usual, quality of stay will depend on the people staying. Good vibes for my brief stay. Parking for one car, maybe two at most. Check first.

I saw bad revews about this place. I should have listen to that. Not clean place. I wanted to take my breakfast (not included) in the communal area at 8:15 am but i was locked we had to ask to open it ! Also a barking dog under our window and we wanted to leave our bags for a few hours after check out like we usualy do in all the hostel when we have to wait for a bus or so but they say not possible so I think it was to expensive for what it is (22$ for private room)

We volunteered there for two weeks and experienced some ups and downs. However, the general feeling from guests was warm and positive. A big plus is that it’s calm and economical. If you’re staying in PV for a while and need to save some money-give it a shot. We notice

I walked in, and the person at reception was forcefully r*ping a squirrel. I asked what my room was, and he said to kill yourself. He then threatened me at gunpoint, and I peed myself. He eventually gave me my room, but I got shot. I began treating the wound once in the room, but found of a whole Mexican family living in my shower. They were also running a drug cartel under the bed. When they first saw me they bound and gagged me, and then beat and r*aped me. They went back into the shower, and I escaped and went to bed, because I wanted to sleep off my horrible, fatal wounds. When I woke up, I thought I was hallucinating because there was a horse in my room, but unfortunately it was reality. The horse started to open my wounds even more, using his tunnel of love. I needed to escape so I jumped out of the window. Would try again.

Haha this place is insane. The room we had contained tennis ball sized holes in the wooden floor and the floor itself had a slope of about 20%. The German couple who showed us the place were awkward 18 year olds. I was asked to pay $1 for a damp towel with holes in it. If I had my time again I would have slept in the car. ✌

I loved every minute of my stay at Blue Butterfly Hotel. It was like staying in the garden of Eden. Waking up to the beautiful jungle sounds every morning is something I will never forget and everybody should get to experience. It's like a glorious symphony of happiness.

Really enjoyed here! The place has a really nice vibe, is in a great location (quiet enough to hear birds and bugs, but close enough to shops, the beach & bars.) Beds are really comfy & have a mosquito net with them. The volunteers were happy to help with directions or advice on places to see!

Super helpful and nice staff and very charming place! Of course there will be humidity and bugs - it's Costa Rica. Don't travel to the country if you can't handle that. The only issue for me was that the cats were able to get into our room and I'm allergic. But the manager helped us solve the problem immediately and offered us a cat safe room. Over all, the place is just a few fixes away from being the perfect cozy place with home feeling.

Gross ! The whole place is extremely dirty. People are loud even after the "quiet time", the beds are uncomfortable, the rooms are small and vert humid. I have been travelling a lot and rarely been in such a bad hostel. I am not looking for excessive comfort, just standard hygiene. Very expensive for what it is.

On the less nice side of hostels I've been to. The hot water shower wasn't really hot. The rooms has mosquito nets on the beds but no nets on the windows. Could use some improvements in security. The staff was very nice.

This place is absolutely terrible! It's not at all as shown in the photos. When arriving the volunteer service girl was totally stoned, such as all the people in the hostel.
She even didn't know if they had a free room for us.
After waiting a long time she showed us a very little wooden cabin room with two beds inside.
The mattresses were like 50 years old and dirty and the mosquito nets were completely damaged. There was no space at all in the "room" to put our baggage. You only get old towels for 1$.
There is only one washbasin for the whole hostel and it's not very clean.
The fridge in the kitchen didn't work.
When we found cockroaches and millions of ants in the "room" she showed us we decided immediately to leave this disgusting place.

I'll start with the people were amazing, super friendly volunteers who I could see becoming long time friends with. BUT the place was kinda dirty. Clean sheets but the bathrooms were a little sketch. Also my pants got bleached (guessing from) the washroom.
