A bit of a party atmosphere. Nothing wrong with that, but if you're looking for a quiet night's sleep, consider something else. Overall, the staff was super friendly and the breakfast was delicious! The hostel itself is pretty cool too.

You can't sleep in that hostel. There is a bar, which belongs to the hostel. The music is to loud for an appropriate sleep.

We loved the place. Super well located. The rooms are very big and clean, just make SURE you get A/C. The staff was kind and helpful. The common kitchen is great. They were building the pool when i was there but when they are finish in few days, the common area will be very beautiful and chill.

What can I say about Beds on Bohio hostel? This place was a literal paradise for us! The staff are so incredibly helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel right at home. The grounds are beautiful and there are tons of hammocks and picnic tables and patios and couches to just hang out and chill at all throughout the day or night. The wifi, cold showers, ceiling fan and ac worked perfectly and the beds were very comfy to stretch out in after a long day. They also have surfboards rentals and lessons as well as bike rentals and a restaurant and bar right out front where they offer ladies free drinks and play reggae music all into the night. This hostel is less than a block away from the beach as well from all of the shops and restaurants and has such a mellow vibe that I would recommend this place to anyone going to Jaco.
Our first two nights there we had a private room with no ac and just a ceiling fan and a cold shower and that was honestly good enough for me to relax in and was a welcoming change from their 90+ degree heat outside. It does cost a little extra for a room with an ac (and the prices go up on the weekends) but that is to be expected and is still a fraction of the price you'd pay for a room kind of similar here in A,Erica or at other resorts in Jaco.
I am not a drinker or partier but I do love good music (especially reggae!) and to watch people have fun and the late night drinking and music did not really bother me. We could hear the music in our room (without the ac) all night until 2:00 a.m. so if you are a sensitive sleeper I'd like to say now this isn't a good place to have a quiet night. But if you are looking for that mellow "beach bum" vibe and can handle a little bit of a safe party atmosphere then definitely check this place out!
I'd also like to clarify something: I just read a review for Beds on Bohio on here that said there was rampant drug use and drug dealers and stuff like that. Marijuana is relatively legal in Costa Rica and there were people all up and down the strip offering us marijuana for sale but never once did I get that "dangerous, sketchy, drug dealer" vibe from anyone I'd encountered smoking it or selling it. Nobody tried to sell us anything in the hostel and there weren't people soliciting outside of the hostel gates. Here selling marijuana is just like trying to sell crafts or fresh fruit or something on the corner. I think whoever wrote that review just had a bad night and is trying to bring down this hostel and their business any way they can. What they are saying is the equivalent to going to Washington state or Colorado and saying "there were drug dealers on every corner!" in reference to the dispensaries haharesponse / report this review -

Nice people and good breakfast. In the rooms its really hot, there is no air conditioning. It's very loud the whole night because of the bar close the hostel.

I stay in hostel all the time, and this was by far the worst experience ever. The hostel is not clean at all and the rooms are unbearably hot. When we asked for a fan (in most but not all rooms) , the staff broke into another room and took the fan without telling the other guests. The owner is a drug addict and was high the every time we saw him. Frequent drug deals in the courtyard including the owner. Our room was on top of a bar that played music until 4am every morning so sleeping was impossible. The only good thing about the hostel is its location and proximity to the beach and restaurants. Will never visit this place again. Be careful when booking, non refundable. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Excellent surfer hostel. Jaco is kind of a grimy town but you will find friends here. I would opt for the room with AC if it's not full. It's not much more and there are few havens like this when traveling Costa Rica. They have a bar and restaurant attached with reasonable priced food or a large kitchen if you wanna cook for yourself.

It was alrightbut: my friend and I missed the 7:30 am bus to Puntarenas because they open their reception at 8:00amand if they're hosting mostly backpackers, they should know that opening either 24/7 or at least opening at 5:00am is essential.
