The sincere opinions described in this text are based on my own experience in AIS. The school treats students like robots with ridiculous rules. There is no place for outstanding and different students in there. Regarding direction and professors, AIS is extremely autocratic. Don’t ever try to insert a different opinion over the way things are done, because if you do, you’ll suffer consequences. They made it clear that they are not welcoming to suggestions. Any authorization needed, will take you many signatures and a lot of bureaucracy to be done. It is difficult to talk about education in AIS, since some classes are taught by good US native professors, and other are taught by Costa Rican people, which is really bad because it does not allow the students to get a fluent native English accent. There are few class options per period, so normally you won’t choose your schedule. In the junior or senior year, there is a big possibility of having free classes, since there are no more class options. Most of the students are not international, meaning people speak Spanish in the hallways all the time. For English speakers, it might be hard to insert in groups, and sometimes even to make friends. Since I did not attend MEP classes, I cannot give an opinion on that. The school has a calm feeling, which is nice. In the other hand it feels like the environment is rather unwelcoming since sometimes the school is empty. A feeling when studying there is to finish your studies as soon as possible to follow life in a better place. Time doesn't pass smoothly when studying in AIS. In the financial part, the school can charge you for invented fees that never existed just to rip you off. The financial staff is extremely rude and will not try to help you, just to take your money at all cost. Good financial stability is needed to study in the school.
