Great food, friendly service and beautiful views. Owned by a husband (from Italy) and wife (from Costa Rica) who are present for your dining experience every step of the way to be sure you are satisfied. Slightly on the pricey side, but worth it.

We had a lovely dinner at Abbocato. During a recent visit to the area, we ate out at most of the restaurants in the area. This was our best meal. If you can, catch the sunset on the patio before moving to a table inside.

We came here on our last night of vacation and had an outstanding meal! There are fantastic items on the A la Carte menu but the chef also creates a fish prix fix as well as a meat prix fix. I am a Culinary Institue of A
erica graduate and very fussy about my meals. The ambiance was incredible, service flawless and friendly and the foodI will plan a trip back here just to come back for a meal. Enjoy!

This was my best meal in Costa Rica. Seriously. It was so good I made reservations to come back each of the remaining days of my stay. No kiding.

The night started with watching the sunset from their patio with a drink in hand. There is no better way to start the meal. While on the patio, the chef, Andrea came outside and walked me through the special vegetarian menu he had planned for me. He offered various other options to swap into the menu. I decided to stick with his initial planned menu. Then I was led inside for the four course meal.

I'm a fairly picky eater and I'm a vegetarian who doesn't like vegetables but Andrea pulled out a surprising and delicious meal making me like the vegetables he placed infront of me. Every single course was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I was truly blown away.

If you are visiting this part of Costa Rica, make sure this restaurant is included on your itinerary.

My husband and I went to Abbocato yesterday evening for the last meal on our honeymoon. It was EXCELLENT! We met the chef and his wonderful wife. The views are astounding and the food is even better. I got the special and my husband got the osso bucco. We could not have chosen a better restaurant! We would highly recommend going to this restaurant! My husband wore shorts and a shirt and I a dress. They make you feel extremely welcomed and We even met some wonderful new friends there. We are from Chicago where there are multiple amazing restaurants so we know good food! Cheers!

WAY Overpriced, mediocre food and hovering staff. We were recommended to this restaurant by the EL Mangroove Hotel. Just a few minutes drive from the hotel, we checked the reviews before going which were all excellent. The listing for the restaurant stated casual dining, so we went in shorts/casual attire. We were the only car at the restaurant when we arrived and we were surprised to find it in a hacienda style building with elegant décor. We immediately felt under dressed. The restaurant is run by what I can only assume is a husband and wife with the husband being lead chef. The chef came to our table and explained the specials as well as the Full Menu. The prices were VERY HIGH but we were intrigued and excited about the prospects of an excellent meal. Between the 4 of us we ordered the full menu as well as appetizers, steak and osso bucco. Some items were good but the majority of the meal was not. The wife and chef both hovered to the point of making us uncomfortable. The chef cajoled us into ordering something he did not want, which was by far the worst part of the meal – a short rib risotto. After the meal we ordered Cappuccinos which truly tasted like hot water. I hate giving bad reviews but felt that in light of all the glowing reviews, a counter point, based on our experience, was in order.
