We had an amazing time with Diego. He took us to the most spectacularly beautiful places, we stayed with a lovely family (Gloria is a great cook and overall wonderwoman) and he got me to the top of a mountain - no mean feat as I am scared of heights, it says a great deal about how safe I felt with him that I went to the top. He took great care of us, with an excellent sense of humour and knowledge of the area. Just perfect, if I could give more than five stars I would.

The 2 day trek with Salento trekking to Los Paramos was the highlight of my stay in Salento. Jennifer was great helping me book, Christian was a fantastic guide - very patient, funny and knowledgeable, and the hospitality at Finca Argentina was superb. This trip is not for everyone - if you prefer luxury and comfortable beds, you won't love this. But if adventure, an authentic Colombian experience, and a physical challenge is your thing - do it! as an active hiker I found this to be a challenging hike at altitude. Pack light, bring wool clothing to sleep in as it's cool at night, and check out the stars after dark from the finca.
