A little slice of heaven on the carribbean coast of Colombia. Excellent service. The place to be for travellers looking for an off-the-beaten path experience. Great PADI courses too. Fully recommended

Rincon del Mar is around 100km south to Cartagena. A small village at the beach with and only very few hotels/ hostels. Rincon del Mar is the opposite of Cartagena. It is quite, non touristic, the beaches are long and big and the sand is white. You will not be asked to buy any souvenirs, etc. like in Cartagena. The landside is very beautiful. On the way from Cartagena to Rincon del Mar we say a lot villages and a very beautiful landside. The trip is safe. We had some doubts about safety when we planned the trip but that was absolutely unnecessary. The buses are new, spacious and very cheap (22.000 one way). The last part from San Onfore to Rincon del Mar we took a Mototaxi which was fun pure. For those who do not like Mototaxis there are also normal taxis available (you might wait a little or order on from the bus station).
The Hotel Rincon del Frances is there perfect place to stay. The room are spacious with air condition and bathroom. For those with little budget there are also cheaper option like shared bedrooms. The hotel is directly at the beach (around 50 meters). We heard the sea from our room. The have a kitchen for common use and a big terrace with hammocks to relax. Guests are from Columbia and outside Columbia are very easy going. Jim, the owner, is a very nice, multinational guy and always open for a chat about travelling, etc. Also the staff is enormous friendly and helpful. Going there, and escaping the hustle in Cartagena for a couple of days, was the best decision we made!!!

If you are looking for a nice beach to relax away from tourists crowds, Rincon is your best bet!

Rincon del Frances is probably the best hostel in the area too. Jean-Marie, the owner, makes you comfortable as soon as you arrive (he also speaks Spanish, French & English). We stayed in a nice double private rooms with AC for 32USD/night. You can buy fish, octopus or langouste from the locals/fishermen and cook it in the spacious shared kitchen of Rincon Del Frances. Also, if you are planning to visit the nearby Archipelago of San Bernardo (Santa Cruz del Islote, Tintipán, Múcura, etc.), Ricon is the best place to do so, away from the crowded tourist-boats, Jean-Marie helped us to organize a one-day trip to Santa Cruz del Islote & Tintipan and it was amazing. Don't miss the GORGEOUS beach in TINTIPAN!

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE to anyone who wants to relax by the sea or visit the islands!!!

After 1 week in this magnificent place I'm still hesitating to continue my trip. The magic of this hidden spot on the caribean coastis the laidback culture of the natives. They like to stop by and are interested in talking to you. You can ask everyone for a favor, like eg. boattours or food, still they never try to sell stuff. Jim, the owner, is a nice guy who likes to relaxes as much as the backpackers coming by :) you have to ask him for divinglessons since he is a professional scuba diver. The hostel is very new and covered with huge artworks of the tourists who paintes on the walls. Everything is tidy and the beaches are always very clean.
Hope to come back one time :)

What an amazing place! I literally felt like I was staying with family. Jim and his staff are incredibly welcoming, very laid back, extremely helpful, and unbelievably kind. I honestly didn't want to leave after a few days, and I will definitely be back!
I loved my private room with a view of the sea, the shaded hammocks perfect for long naps, the common areas where you could join a game of backgammon & spend hours having all kinds of interesting conversations, the deliciously prepared fresh seafood, snorkeling in the crystal clear waters around the San Bernardo islands, and the spectacularly quiet & calm beach right in front of the hostel.
I also loved getting to know the owner Jim and his family. They are simply amazing, full of stories & laughter, and it is abundantly clear how much they love hosting travelers from all over the world. I have told everyone I've met since about my idyllic time there. It was like a dream- everything a chill & relaxing beach vacation should be.
Thanks for treating me like family! I can't wait to come back
