Kitchen is horrible. Few and very old pans. No glasses. Burners bad. Very few power outlets. Wifi terrible. Becoming rundown. Far from town. Beds are good. Compared to other Colombian hostels in this class, they are very overrated. I asked if they could get some new pans for such a high rated place. He said no go eat in restrarant.
This place is spectacular! I stayed in 3 different places in and around salento. I loved it here. Beautiful space and gardens. Wasn't the most social 'hostel' but everything else absolutely made up for it. It is a little walk out of town though.
The views are stunning and it was great to be out of the main bustle of Salento. However it was incredibly crowded, the mattresses were really hard and uncomfortable and the kitchen is very badly stocked. Only a few pans, most of which have no handles. Lack of good bowls and cooking utensils. As it's 30 mins walk from shops, a good kitchen is essential!
A little corner of paradise, with helpful and really good people working there. Everything is open there are no keys in the doors (of course u have a loker), I felt secure.
I've been there in new-year time, the hostel was full but quiet, there is a lot of space, u can Also camp Even if for me is a bit cold :) but no too much we ate always in Colombia!
The free breakfast is really good, fresh eggs, banana and bread all prepared on the fly, I can have extras like bacon, veggies, fruit and much more! There is a kitchen as well so u can cook for the other meals.
I really enjoyed my time there.
We stayed a total of 3 nights in La Serena. This hostel can be reached by foot (20 minutes) or by Jeep (5 minutes) from Salento's main plaza.
It's a little paradise away from the agitated center: the landscape is mesmerizing and offers great sunset opportunities plus bird watching. The breakfast (included) is really nice and one can order delicious extras (juices, fruit salads). I can't recommend enough a tour of their beautiful little garden!
Great hostel just 20 minutes outside of Solento and a nice place to chill out
Beautiful & quiet place to relax and enjoy the view. High level facilities, a bit far from Salento but you can always catch a cab
After the humid heat in Cartagena and business of Medellin, I was so ready to be immersed in nature in Salento. I loved absolutely everything about La Serranafrom the amazing food (breakfast was the best!), to the nearby town, the horses and cows, and the mountainscapeWOW. Would definitely come back to Salento and stay at La Serrana.
Nice hostel with really friendly staff. Helped us plan our days and suggested several things according to our tight schedule. Views from the tents were incredible and breakfast included in the morning was brilliant. Nightly fire to keep you warm and a general area to chill with others in the hostel.
Beautiful place, extremely cool and easy to hang out and relax. There's a kitchen to use, and the beds are comfy. I came in quite late, and had no problem checking in without a booking, even though the reception was closed. The dinner they offer is really good too, and the breakfast included is actually a breakfast with more than bread and jam. You can buy extra stuff as smoothies and yoghurt if you wish. It's a bit of a walk from the town though.
One if the best hostels I've stayed in, on Latin America. Such a good chillout vibe with everyone just getting on. Bonfire every night (as long as it doesn't rain), amazing views of the valleys and a pretty good breakfast.
This hostel was very comfortable with views absolutely to die for. We arrived very late at night due to a missed flight but there was someone there waiting for us which made it very easy. The provided breakfast is delicious and there is the option for many additions at an extra cost. If I am back in Salento I will definitely be staying at La Serrana.
