Had an amazing lunch here. I'm originally from Israel where wholefish is a specialty and hard to find as delicious anywhere in the world. I have to say this place was on part or better. Huuuuuge fish, had every single bite of their sea bass.
We were advised by the owner of our hostel to have lunch at La Mulata and we had a wonderful experience. Lovely staff that helped us choosing our dishes, great atmosphere with fans and air conditioning and most importantly delicious food!
The fish was an absolute delight; the portion is generous for a decent price. I would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly and qualitative restaurant in Cartagena.
We came here with high hopes given the rating and amount of reviews. However, the food was underwhelming. We ordered the “Plato del dia” which today happened to be shrimp with plantains, rice and an avocado mash. The shrimp were small, greasy, and genuinely lacking in flavor. We also got the fried fish plate. It was perfectly crispy and generous but also mute in taste. The staff were attentive and friendly.
Pricey for what it is - the three small dishes we had all showed the same side dishes.
A nice rice and mash + avocado but still the same
Dishes were really too small
The beef was horribly dry and tasteless - left it
Finally they add 18% to the menu price for tax and tip which makes a tiny pulpo at $ 42,000 where we paid same price in much more fancy places and for double (if not 3 times) the quantity
Overall a great disappointment as the place is popular but shows nothing and there many more luxurious places for much better food and ambiance
We out a 2 because the waitresses were very friendly
If you want to experience real local food(literally like the one my mom would make, I am from Cartagena) you have to come here, hands down best local food. If it was only about the food I would give them 6 stars. With that say it is not a fancy looking place is rather cool and trendy more on the informal side of things, not that there is anything wrong with that. They pretty good servers, they are kind and considered. I don't give them 5 stars in the review because the restrooms are too little, hot, and uncomfortable in general, they are clean though. But despite the Restrooms, you should not miss out on this real food treat.
one of the best Colombian Restaurant, great affordable prices, very good tastes, great caribbean mixed flavor, and over all very nice personnel, being fair is the best Colombian Restaurant in Cartagena, HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Delicious! Excellent mojitos, excellent seafood, and excellent servers. Far surpassed my expectations. My wife and I split some shrimp, some lobster, some octopus, and some mussels for an insanely reasonable cost and it was better than anything we've ever had back in the States. I highly recommend La Mulata to anyone who happens to be in the neighborhood.
Simple menu, great location and very quick service. A little appetizer before the beautifully arranged and very well made main course and very quick waitresses makes a five star restaurant which is highly recommended.
Hipster joint with a diverse selection of seafood available at very reasonable prices. Seafood is fresh and plentiful and definitely a lovely resto for lunch or dinner. Ambiance is casual. It is clear that people come here to enjoy the food.
Had fish of the day..was accompanied with mashed potatoes and rice..fish was sumptuous. mashed potatoes tasted awesome! The service is friendly and prompt.. Overall, I'm totally satisfied with the place.
Great seafood eats and affordable. Don't expect much other than underwater eats. Calm place, good for a date or just eating with some friends.
I've been to La Mulata several times my first week in Cartagena. The food is consistently incredible. The staff is friendly and timely. I've shopped around, and nowhere else compares.
best food in cartagena. also best juices. if you can get in, do so. fresh, well prepared and not pricey at all.
Wow, hidden gem! Casual place but awesome dishes at unbelievable prices. Definitely sensed a lot of love and a sense pride in their food (we ordered the grilled octopus and lobster+fillet). Big portions so you won't leave hungry. Due to the popularity the wait could be long and the service can be slow. Best place in Cartagena so far and worth a go.
