Magical Realism at its finest!!!
Enjoyed a wonderful tour with our tour guide: Mr. Carlos Pelaez Martinez. He speaks some English and French (although we did our tour with him in Spanish as we are fluent).
Mr. Pelaez is a deeply devout and humble, spiritual man who exudes the mystery that is Spiritual Colombia at its finest.
We enjoyed his presence so much, we invited him out to lunch in addition to doing the tour with him.
He lives the inner mysteries of Christ and was thus the perfect guide for the life and teachings of this great Saint: San Pedro Claver.
For a genuine experience of the magical Colombia do a tour with this wonderful man.
So much history here. Enjoyed it very much
Beautiful Church and Stunning Plaza
It is easy to get to a bit confused remembering all of the plazas, parques and churches that will delight you when visiting Cartagena. However, this church and plaza truly stand out. The plaza in front the church is a small but beautiful place where you will see numerous metal sculptures that portray locals at work and play. There is also the La Tienda del Museo, which is a museum shop for the Modern Art Museum. It is a beautiful store to enjoy. The church honors Saint Peter Claver, a man through great sacrifice and love, provided the slaves that were arriving from Europe with medication and food . He considered himself to be a slave of the slaves.
This is a place not to be missed.
It's part of perhaps the most beautiful church in the city. They're under the religious congregation of the Society of Jesus. Very humane and forward thinking people
The inner garden is so peaceful and nice. You can sit and relax there. I wasn't really interested in religious art, but the Haiti art on the second floor was interesting. The remains of the saint at the alter are quite unusual to see.
Stunning view out of the church.
This museum is SO overpriced for what it is do not recommend! It's literally a few rooms with some old wooden artifacts and they charge 12000 pesos to enter!
The church square is quite nice to have dinner or lunch. Be mindful this is a working church so there is mass and people might be praying. On left side of the church you can enter the museum. Get a guide otherwise you'll miss half or all of the content.
beautiful Catholic church in the old city!
The church is quite good. Maybe the best church in Cartagena.
The square is quite busy and there was Mass on when I visited so I couldn't take many photos. That being said it's a great place to stop for lunch and take in the historic district
Nice place. Good night life.
