Please read if it's your first time in Bogota. Be aware that wifi only lasts 30 minutes and is spotty within the airport. The customs line is usually long, 30 minutes plus. Taxis: they are very corrupt and rip off tourists. Be sure you take a yellow taxi. Do not listen to the men at the entrance offering you taxis. They are not cab drivers, they are people who park a ways away and take you in their personal car. A few people have been robbed that way. Only take the yellow taxi. Walk outside and head to the first yellow taxi you see.

Excellent airport, probably the best in the region. No huge immigration waiting lines. Very modern design that relaxes you before travelling. The total opposite of an US airport. Very tight security without treating you as cattle. The Duty Free and the local commercial area has quite a few options. It is very clean and organized.

Huge airport for South American standards. I get like their wasn’t enough bathrooms once you went through the security checkpoints in the international gates. Their was always queues especially for the females. It is very clean and modern but just not enough seating areas at some gates. I had to stand for a while.

A true standout in Latin America. El Dorado is clean, efficient with a good user design. Bottlenecks have been considered well and both customs and security are quick and easy. Bathrooms are clean and plentiful and there are multiple options for quality food and drink. Finally, the place also had a noted relaxed and quiet vibe, which is quite unique. Very nice!

Nice airport, clean. Well layed out with signs in both English and Spanish. Options for food and clean bathrooms! My only complaint is that they won't let travelers lay down after 3am, only airport I have been too with such a restriction. Which is less than pleasant when layovers start at 3.20.

Melhor aeroporto da América do Sul??? Piada. Primeiro fomos revistados (pelo menos era mulher passando a mão). TODOS. No raio X retiraram um alicate de cutícula que já passou por aeroportos da Europa, Brasil e África (aqui o pessoal deve ser mais violento, só pode). Passam toneladas de drogas mas o problema é o alicate de unhas Fora a "educação" no atendimento, te olhando como se todos fossem marginais. Internet? Tem, 30 minutos e não funciona direito. Um LIXO!

For an international Airport, no one who works for the airport speaks even the slightest bit of English. Thankfully at least the airlines are more competent to put at least one person that speaks. But actual airport staff don't speak English! To make matters worse, no one in the immigration office speaks English either. English is an international language, and is the international language used in all business. Every international Airport should have someone that can speak English and relay instructions CORRECTLY as well as help foreigners who are visiting the country. I've had terrible experiences at this airport dealing with its staff and so have my friends. The staff, especially in immigration, seem to think it's a joke when a forigner can't understand what they need to do when there is a problem with their visa or if the person is leaving past their passport date. I spoke to one lady in the immigration office there recently to help a friend of mine and the lady behind the counter was extremely rude, and after answering a few questions she didn't want to answer any more and told me she can't answer any more questions. Colombia is a great country to visit, but when it comes to customer service or dealing with immigration at this international Airport, they are graded "F".

We spent a few hours in transfer here. The food selection was terrible , burgers or burgers mostly and everything was crazy expensive. You would be in big trouble if you were a vegetarian and US$3 for a small bottle of water . Even changing money was awkward . You had to sign 2 receipts and apply 2 finger prints to the receipts (ridiculous! ) which idiot came up with this great idea. Makes the place feel really third world. The shop selection was quite good.

Very nice airport. If I’m not confuse, this is one of the best airports in South America. I’ve been many times and never had problems here. Pay attention to the taxi drivers, sometimes they evaluate your travel more than it worth. The white one looks more professional than the usual yellow. The yellow ones sometimes do not have invoices or have very poor conditions to give a ride.

We were in the line for immigration for an hour and a half after landing at this airport. They have 18 windows for immigration officers but only have 3 open at a time. It was worse than Miami airport. Also for some reason every single time I land at this airport we can't dock at a real terminal and have to be bussed in -- which has made me miss a connecting flight. On top of everything they only give you 30 minutes of free wifi.

A bit small, but this makes it easier. Everything is well organized. But one thing really surprised me. When I went through the metal detectors the thing went off, so a lady scanned me with a hand scanner. No problem. Then she started to rattle in Spanish. I said I don't speak Spanish, but she just repeated and repeated the same Spanish words. I got a bit annoyed, but stayed friendly. Finally she pointed me to a chair, so I sat down. But again all Spanish! And I got more annoyed. I want to cooperate if I know what to do! Then two big, Colombian security guards came and stood behind me, but that doesn't make me understand Spanish. FINALLY she said "shoes". I have these big hiking boots with, as you might guess, metal. Always an issue with most airports, but not in the past 4 countries, so I didn't think about it. If the lady just said "shoes" earlier, I would understand.
Afterwards we went to the Burger King. I ordered in my best (read worst) Spanish and 3 guys replied in English! They spoke better English than the security peopleSeriously? Maybe the Burger King people need to do security, so foreigners understand what they need to do.

It was a nice airport, very big but also easy to get around. Plenty of good restaurants before you go through security, but we couldn't find anything all that great after we went through to the waiting area.

We had saved all our receipts for all our purchases made in Colombia with the expectations of being able to claim the taxes from the DIAN at the airport. When we arrived at the DIAN we were informed that we could not claim taxes since we had dual citizenship. Thanks! Another win for us.. NOT!, Our American friends also wanted to claim the taxes from their purchases, and here’s the catch. The DIAN is conveniently located just before security where of course, by the time you’ve reached that point you’ve obviously checked in your luggage. One of the conditions to get the taxes back is to show all the merchandize as well as the receipts so they can review your purchases matching receipts with the purchased items. Who on earth is going to know that!!!! It feels like a total set up!!! I would be interested to know how many people actually get to claim their taxes and be reimbursed the 20% tax rate they’ve been paying while visiting. We had no chance. Though next time we know to walk past check in toward security with our purchases separated and ready for review, then walk back again to check in then back to security. Got it. And to demonstrate the value in this some of us were expecting like $200 back. It was quite a loss.

Going through immigration had it’s moments too. It took twenty minutes for us to be processed. Forget the lines, I’m not even complaining about the lines, that is expected. But here’s a good one, the agent attending our friends was snacking on the job!!!! SNACKING!!!!!! Popping food in her mouth while processing paperwork, passports, and people!!!!!

Right now is under construction, the second terminal, for national flights is small and outdated. But the international terminal is really modern. You have to be careful to which terminal are you going to avoid extra walking. The taxis won't care if you make mistakes and they are really expensive.

El Dorado International Airport has gone thru some major renovation. Is bigger, so be prepared to walked a lot. However if you need a wheelchair the will accommodate you. Immigration is fast. Many shoppes and some coffee shops and restaurants. The waiting lounges are big with comfortable chairs. It has wi_fi and specific areas to charge you cell phone. El Dorado is not bad

Why the airport charges for the toilet paper at the men bathroom in international luggage collecting area? what happen when you don't have colombian coins? Paying for toilet paper awful! Besides this, a great airport!

Tons of remodeling so lots of inconvenience. Once completed, it will probably get more stars. However, gate area 13 goes from A to D and it has got to the worst waiting area of any airport is have ever been in. Uncomfortable seats, too crowded, you have to be shuttled to the plane and you have to walk up metal stairs the 1960s way. How could they have earned best airport honors?

It's not a small airport. Most people don't speak a lot of English. But airlines staff can help most of the time. I used to make international connections that was a pain. Then I decided to avoid this airport for international connection.

I used this today for domestic travel. It's alright. Only security is not the same as in the US. They have their own rules. Got my small cuticle trimmer took away and it was allowed in US.
