This is a historic site in the Manga district of Cartegena. It is the home of Rafael Nunes, a man elected president of Columbia four times. He was the author of Columbia's national anthem and the nation's constitution. It is very much an open air house of the mid-1800s. In a city that is always hot and in an era without air conditioning, the open design was smart. The home is furnished with period furniture providing a glimpse at the family life style. No running water. The house is operated as a tourist attraction.

Interesting history of the area. Out side the usual area for tourists. I happen upon it why walking about. It's free and you can see what life was like without air-conditioning if you were of the moneyed class. Clean bathroom.

A good place to start if you want to know a little about Colombian history.
It is important to chose a good guide that knows history or else you will end up just seeing a lot of old stuff that doesn't make any sense.
The tour is not too long, about 45 minutes.response / report this review
