For me this was the best place for food in Salento. We went there twice during our short visit to Salento and were impressed with the quality and taste of the food, in the UK this would be considered fine dining and you would pay several times more.
If you are in Salento make sure you don't miss it

The food is excellent. Extremely well prepared and with amazing flavours. Try the salmon, I think it is the best dish I have ever had! I have add beef too and it was also excellent! If you are in Salento please do not leave before going to Bernabe for a meal :)

We went to restaurant to gave dinner, as it was full, we were asked to wait for a table at the couch in the restaurant, to get seated when a table becomes free. After some time a family of four entered (we were a couple) asking the same, at this moment one table got free. Instead of seating us, the waiter offered the table to the newcomers, standing directly in front of us. This is an rude and unacceptable behavior. After informing the waiter that we consequently will leave now, he couldjust did not care at all. Cannot recommend the restaurant at all. The menue furher is quite limited. However I should thank this waiter as it lead us to the restaurant Makao with amazing food and an incredible competent and caring service.

Came here for the coffee experience and I was very pleased. I thought it was just a cafe, but it is a gastropub, that I hope to return to for a meal. They serve coffee using many different methods, but I chose French press (7,000COP). The server brought setup the French press, hot water and scale in front of me, then described the coffee being served, let me smell it, then measured the exact portions of coffee and water to prepare the cup of coffee. The service was above and beyond and I would highly recommend this place if you enjoy precisely prepared, high quality coffee. My girlfriend had here favorite hot chocolate in Salento here as well.

Lovely cute place in salento, the food was outstanding, as good as any place I've eaten in Colombia or Europe. We had the beef steak with pepper sauce, one of the best and only £7 and we had salmon with mofongo (a savory banana potato thing) was delicious too. Service was also top notch. Deserves 5/5 hands down!

Choosing not to eat here would be a tragedy and a grave disservice to yourself and anyone you are traveling with.

All of the food I had in Colombia was excellent, but Bernabé stands far above and beyond in a class of its own. The owner told us he wants to sell not just food, but an experience. That every customer leaves with a smile. The owner and staff were all amazing and a ton of fun as well. I would have gladly tipped enough to triple the cost of dinner, but they wouldn't allow me to give them more than 10%.

Back to the food though - we decided to eat here after reading a review that said something along the lines of "I am a vegetarian atheist and after eating the filet mignon here I believe in God." As a steak aficionado I have had some excellently prepared top quality beef, so I thought that seemed like unreasonably high praise until I ate it myself. I now firmly believe that review doesn't do it justice. The food is so good that any time I happen to find myself in South America, I will make every effort I can to visit Salento again just to eat dinner at Bernabé. It is that good.

This place is amazing! I got the fillet mignon med rare and it was one the best steaks I've had. Perfectly cooked. Staff were all excellent and very attentive. Menu all sounded delicious. I'd eat here every night if I could

Another amazing coffee experience in Salento. Our server walked through all the steps of the coffee crafting experience - from the sniffing of the freshly ground beans, grown locally - to the pour over and respective timing of the watering process. Accompanied by a chocolate and pepper confection, the coffee was sipped overlooking an amazing valley with clouds playing hide-and-seek with the mountain tops. Please see my 360 degree picture.
