Slow service and especially drinks are overpriced. Food is okay but nothing special. A pity because the vibe of the restaurant is nice.
Poor service after the first drink.
The worst restaurant in the whole city!!!! The food is overpriced and disgusting but for some reason you have to wait for hours to get it done!!!!! The waiters have no clue what a good service is, very slow, always do some mistakes in the orders, don't speak English, rude!! Was waiting one hour for the Burger to find out they didn't even place my order!!!
but actually awful service is a signature of Chinese restaurants, why do I coplain!
The Happy Monk has more of a Western style than the local places. It belonged more on Hong Kong island or downtown Toronto. There was a busy patio with a mixture of locals and expats. The food passing around looked fresh and well presented. The bar behind was well stocked.
For food, we got the taste plate with double fired ribs, chicken wings, cheese sticks and French fries but they were more like potato wedges. Everything was good.
We had a few drinks of different styles: beer, Cosmos, Mojhitos. We tired the bloody marry and it was really bad. They had used mustard as a mix, an odd one. We couldn't drink it and needed to let it go. The bartender asked us what was wrong and we explained. He told us what was in it and was told him it was wrong. He took it off the bill but he asked us to help make it better. It was friendly and unusual. The bill was Hong Kong prices but it was better service and a better experience.
Great place to be with English speaking and efficient staff
Nice place to chill and relax.
Great new food menu & always a good vibe.
