  该塔初建于明万历四十六年（1618），但因故未能建成，至清康熙八年（1669）重建完工。1955年在建设土质防水墙时将底层掩埋，外观变为四层，1987年修缮并恢复了出檐部分，2009年4月至10月再次进行修缮。可惜现在不能进入塔楼内部。
