This is a teaching university for undergraduate science. Within the University is the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, whose mission is to identify the active chemical components of traditional herbal medicines and to characterize their effects using a variety of of in vitro and in vivo biological assays; the ultimate goal being the discovery and development of new medicines.
