Like others have said. It is more like a park than a temple. The temple of heaven itself is impressive, a wooden structure with no single nail. I gave it a four star because the exits are really far away. You will have sore feet and sad joints after dragging your bodies on the exceptionally hard stone floors through the park. Best to wear comfortable shoes, sun cream (there is minimal shade) and have a picnic or a lunch break.

Beautiful park crowned with a spectacular series of historical temples. Definitely pay for the through pass in order to get into the temple grounds themselves. The temples are spectacular and are a can't-miss part of a trip to Beijing. I would recommend avoiding tour groups for visiting here, because you're going to want to wander the park and spend some time enjoying the grounds. The park itself is massive and well kept.

So we started our day today much like the others. Up by 0700 and after eating are free breakfast and drinking some caffeine (coffee) we are on our way to the subway by 0830. This time we headed to the Temple of Heavens Park Area. This was a nice large green grass park area with more sights to see. During our walk through the area we concentrate on seeing the Harvest Halls. Then the Seven Stones. Shortly after that we went to the Wangfujing Shopping Mall. We had some Starbucks and walked around. It seemed to be very expensive compared to our malls in the states. The overall impression was that I was underdressed and underpaid. We then got back on the subway and went to the Beijing Zoo. Of course, the first animal we wanted to see was the Giant Panda. After the zoo we went back to the hotel to rest and get some plans together again. Then we went back to the silk market to get some more souvenirs and bought some last minute deals before boarding the planes. Then we headed straight to the Olympic site to see the infamous cube and the birds nest. Timing was great. Only waited about an hour for total darkness to watch everything light up at night. Took lots of photos and we even flew some kind on miniature kites there. After that we decided to take a cab back to save some time. We pay around 70 yaun for it. It just helped us realize how much money we saved all week by using the subway system. Then we got some local meat chicken stick and had noodles, rice and the pot stickers in the hotel room. Packed up some clothes for tomorrow and waited for the final and biggest tourist spot of them all! Our guide called and we are heading to the great wall tomorrow morning at 0800. It was a birthday wish and life long goal of mine for several years now It is coming true tomorrow. Thanks be to God!

A magnificent temple situated close to the market. It's historic yet well preserved. The tickets are of two varieties, 34 for full entry and 17 for entry to the temple grounds only.

Temple of heaven which can be considered more of a park, than a temple with circular mount alters & imperial vault of heaven as the main attractions.

Apart from the entrance ticket to the park there are separate tickets to enter the above mentioned attractions

The best time to visit this place is in the early morning where you can witness some people practicing martial arts like Tai chi and many other forms of entertainment by common people who do this on a daily basis for fun. The park covers an area of 600 acres and is almost near to the center of the city. It is really commendation to have such a vast area of land dedicated to people in the center of one the most expensive cities in the world of real estate.

If you are on the east side of the Forbidden City you can take the 60 Bus directly to it. There is not much shade as you walk so bring a hat or umbrella 🌂. Use sunscreen, we were there when it was 85 end of April (Summer must be a killer). Worth the trip, make sure you purchase the "through ticket". Bring you passport must show to change your ticket to go into the buildings.

The is my least favor park in Beijing. Basic entrance fee is required. The park is huge, but most of the tower/building inside the park required separate ticket/entrance fee. However you may purchase all access ticket before you enter the park.

Beautiful place, and a must-see in Beijing! Be careful of the summers though, the sun can be really hot out there! The heat actually burned off some of my skin on my nose! I would give this a 5-star if they had provided more shade.

As part of our 4 day stay in Beijing, The Temple of Heaven and the surrounding park were one of the most impressive sites. We entered at 8h30 and did not leave until late afternoon, when hunger forced us out of the park. The audio guide as very helpful in appreciating the details of the wonderful monuments and temples. Moreover, it was very affordable and enjoyable to spend early morning to late afternoon in the park, only thing missing joint with my heartfelt advise, bring some sandwiched or any type of snack. Not sure if there is, but we didn't find any restaurant in there.
