  The Putuo Zongcheng monastery was built by Emperor Qianlong to accomodate visits by the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Be prepared to climb many stairs to see great views and to see fascinating views of the interior.

  We have visited the Mountain Resort, Putuo Zongcheng (Potala Palace) Temple and Puning Si Temple in Chengde and for me this one was the best of all. The temple is large, complex and very pleasant. While climbing to the top it always seems like there is already an end coming, but then you discover a new building, room, place or staircase leading further up and find something new and unexpected on the way. Really recommended!
