One of most impresive temples in the Shanghai. It is has quite picturesque location becasue it is old style temple in the middle of a city.

It's one of few temples downtown Shanghai, and a very popular tourist spot. Entrance fee is 50 RMB per person, and you need around 40 minutes to see everything inside. You get there on subway Line 2 a JingAn temple station, exit 2.

First, try and get a coin inside the big black tower with pots for good luck, then walk upstairs and see the main Buddha, and go around it to find a very nice carved wall. Then, on the same level go around the temple and check the room above the entrance, you'll find some other Buddhas and a very famous bell.

Last, go around the first floor to see monks and some other praying rooms with Buddhas. It's worth to see he temple at night, they light it very cool and picture worthy. You can take a good picture from the mall across the street (Nanjing West Road), next to JingAn Park, go to the top floor and you'll find a terrace that gives the perfect view of the temple for a good shot.

Gorgeous place, shiny gold roofs and classic architecture. Go to the temple then then park across the street and come back after sunset as the temple is beautifully lit at night. also do not forget to walk around the outside of the temple. Also bring change to toss into the tower in the middle of the temple plaza for good luck (and a bit of fun)

A beautiful example of an old temple complex that's still in operation. You'll encounter monks still doing their prayers, and there's usually some of the faithful performing their rituals in one of the areas.

The temple is in excellent condition, largely because of a wealthy benefactor (thus the gold roofs). The bell and drum towers are particularly impressive.

A note of caution-it's *super* crowded on National Holiday. Almost standing room only. So don't come the first week of October if you can help it.

large gilded temple, you need to pay an entrance fee. On the right after the ticketing office is a small room with a covered well that has a not very large hole where you can toss coins and make a wish. I missed all 5 of my 1 yuan coins but the wish came true half a year later! lol!

This temple is definitely one of the places of Shanghai I prefer. It is a good break from the city chaos, and the strong smell of incense is relaxing. It is not as ancient as other sites in China, but it is one of the most traditional-looking buildings in Shanghai. The contrast with the surrounding skyscrapers is striking and photogenic.
Inside, a lot of people actually pray in the different rooms, which I found particularly interesting as a tourist. You can also see people trying to get coins inside the central structure for good fortune. The price is very accessible, so I would strongly recommend a visit! It is next to a metro station as well as a typical shopping mall.

Located next to multiple malls on Nanjing West this gorgeous temple stands out among the modern buildings in Jing'an neighborhood. The inside of the temple is spacious and absolutely spectacular. 50Rmb to enter is well worth it.

Big beautiful temple in the city .. 50yuan per person for entrance fee is quite expensive though .. Very convenient right next to the jing'an trmple metro station

I love this place ! The energy is amazing. It was fundamental one of the most influential cultural experience anyone can have while visiting Shanghai. I walked into morning prayers in the main chamber where the silver buddha is. Their bonsai garden is amazing as well.
